North Korea Offers Russia 100,000 ‘Volunteers’ for War on Ukraine, Russian State TV Says

North Korea has offered Russia 100,000 “volunteers” to aid in the war against Ukraine, according to Russian state TV.

“There are reports that 100,000 North Korean volunteers are prepared to come and take part in the conflict,” talk show host Igor Korotchenko said on Russian Channel One, the New York Post reported.

The reports come as Russia’s military force is depleted after its unsuccessful attempt to take key parts of Ukraine, including the capital of Kyiv.

Inside the city of the damned: What's going on in Putin occupied Kherson

image.jpeg.9b872d7b5a802b0a5fb15f6c47685ae3.jpeg

A cloud of thick smoke hangs over the occupied city of Kherson in Ukraine. Its very stench is evidence of Russian war crimes, on a scale almost too sickening to contemplate.

The smoke comes from mobile incinerators that are running night and day. Vladimir Putin's paranoid soldiers are burning the corpses of Ukrainian citizens tortured and murdered on suspicion of helping the resistance.

And they are dispatching the bodies of their own comrades too — hundreds of them. The Russians are killed by the constant pounding of Ukrainian shells from artillery placements surrounding the city and by highly organised, secret units of freedom fighters.

Known by many as Russian President Vladimir Putin's "she-wolf," Olga Kachura, 52, was killed when a Ukrainian missile hit her car as she was driving in the city of Horlivka, in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, according to Margarita Simonyan, the pro-Kremlin editor of RT.

https://www.newsweek.com/who-olga-kachura-first-female-russian-colonel-killed-ukraine-1731155

She was a lieutenant colonel in Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and the 97th known colonel to be killed in the Ukraine war. Kachura has previously boasted on pro-Kremlin channels that she especially enjoys killing Ukrainians.

She sounds like a nasty piece of work. Don’t think many Ukrainians will shed a tear for her untimely demise. On the contrary, I think they’ve been actively hunting her and they will probably be quite pleased they finally managed to take her out. Well done.

The situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is not getting any better with more evidence and concerns emerging.

Zaporizhzhia: Real risk of nuclear disaster in Ukraine - watchdog

The UN's nuclear watchdog has called for an immediate end to any military action near Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, warning of a "very real risk of a nuclear disaster". Friday's strikes underline "the very real risk of a nuclear disaster that could threaten public health and the environment in Ukraine and beyond", Mr Grossi said in a statement. "Any military firepower directed at or from the facility would amount to playing with fire, with potentially catastrophic consequences," he added.

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, August 6

A Russian opposition outlet reported that Russian forces are storing explosives and ammunition around the nuclear power plant. The Insider reported on August 5 that a source claimed Russian forces mined the turbine room of energy block 1 of the NPP around August 2.[6] A separate source claimed that about 500 Russian soldiers, as well as armored personnel carriers and anti-aircraft guns, were stationed within the plant and that Russian forces mined the area around the plant.

Russian troops deliver unknown cargo to Zaporizhzhia NPP, sources say power plant is mined (video)

The Insider's sources at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Energodar, which has been occupied by Russia since March, report suspicious activity of Russian soldiers at the plant. The publication also has video of Russian military trucks pulling onto the plant site and unloading cargoes.

Still waiting for the 100,000 North-Korean ‘volunteers’ to show up.

Despicable. Russia should be labeled a terrorist country and treated as such. They have really gone off the deep end over there.

Ukraine war: Four more grain ships leave Ukraine as hopes grow for export stability

image.jpeg

Four more ships carrying grain and sunflower oil have left Ukraine ports via a safe maritime corridor.

Millions of tonnes of grain have been stuck in Ukraine due to Russian blockades, leading to shortages and higher food prices in other countries.

But last week the first ship left Ukraine's ports since February.

The latest ships to set sail are bound for Turkey where they'll be inspected as part of a deal reached with Russia and the United Nations.

This website translates Russian communications into English, this particular one is interesting, provided below is just a snippet but quite a lot of information there from the Russian perspective, not looking so positive for them.

Russian Defence Research Expert on AFU performance, the effect of Western weapon supplies

The SMO once again confirmed the thesis that you can launch hundreds, thousands of unguided projectiles, which are cheap, but all this power is levelled by two guided missiles that accurately hit the target. Two missiles, with all their high cost, will solve more problems than thousands of unguided ones. Old conventional missiles do not cause significant damage to the enemy, especially if he is buried deeply in the ground or hiding in concrete bunkers. This is another confirmation of the triumph of high-precision weapons.

Russia has targeted the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear power plant again. This is the biggest nuclear site in Ukraine and if they hit a Reactor it would make Chernobyl a cough. Is this a military Target ?

The Biden administration announced another $1 billion in new military aid for Ukraine on Monday, pledging what will be the biggest yet delivery of rockets, ammunition and other arms straight from Department of Defense stocks for Ukrainian forces.

The U.S. pledge of a massive new shipment of arms comes as analysts warned that Russia was moving troops and equipment in the direction of the southern port cities to stave off a Ukrainian counteroffensive.

The aid includes additional rockets for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS, as well as thousands of artillery rounds, mortar systems, Javelins and other ammunition and equipment.

Russia Is Now Openly Threatening to Bomb a Nuclear Power Plant

Russia has threatened that it is prepared to blow up Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, in the latest indication that Russia’s war in Ukraine could be headed towards a nuclear disaster.

The head of Russia's Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection Troops nuclear power plant, Major General Valery Vasiliev, claimed that Russians had mined the nuclear power plant, according to Energoatam, a Ukrainian state nuclear agency.

“There will be either Russian land or a scorched desert,” Vasiliev said, according to Energoatam.

He goes on to say that if the Russians don't get to keep it, no one will.

Just saw this link on another thread, sanctions against the Russian aviation industry are working well.

Exclusive: Russia starts stripping jetliners for parts as sanctions bite

MOSCOW, Aug 8 (Reuters) - Russian airlines, including state-controlled Aeroflot (AFLT.MM), are stripping jetliners to secure spare parts they can no longer buy abroad because of Western sanctions, four industry sources told Reuters.

The steps are in line with advice Russia's government provided in June for airlines to use some aircraft for parts to ensure the remainder of foreign-built planes can continue flying at least through 2025.

Sanctions imposed on Russia after it sent its troops into Ukraine in late February have prevented its airlines from obtaining spare parts or undergoing maintenance in the West.

Russian Airbase In Crimea Erupts In Massive Explosions

A senior Ukrainian military official with knowledge of the situation told The New York Times that Ukrainian forces were behind the explosion.

“This was an air base from which planes regularly took off for attacks against our forces in the southern theater,” the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military matters. The official would not tell the Times what type of weapon used in the attack, saying only that “a device exclusively of Ukrainian manufacture was used.”

A top Crimean official earlier on Tuesday confirmed there were several explosions in Novofedorivka.

Russia dangles freedom to prisoners if they fight in Ukraine. Many are taking the deadly gamble.

(CNN)Promises of freedom and riches are made to convicts in cramped jail cells. Frantic phone calls ensue between relatives and inmates weighing the offer. Then prisoners vanish, leaving their loved ones to sift through reports of the wounded arriving in hospitals.

This scene is playing out in the convict communities across Russia. With a regular army stretched thin after nearly six months of a disastrously executed and bloody invasion of Ukraine, there's increasing evidence that the Kremlin is making ugly choices in its ugly war and recruiting Russia's prisoners to fight.

Over a month-long investigation, CNN has spoken to inmates caught up in Russia's newest recruitment scheme, along with their relatives and friends. Activists believe hundreds have been approached in dozens of prisons across Russia -- from murderers to drug offenders.

Very good news,i saw a video of Russian tourists who were at the beach and suddenly in the back ground huge clouds of smoke and explosions happen.

They looked a little bit surprised and starting to take videos.

Maybe the war is moving to take back the Krim!

Depending on where the missile, if that's what it was, was fired from, possibly Sevastopol might be in reach, too. They're only 95 kilometers apart.

I tried linking to google maps but for some reason google is not allowing it. So to see where the explosions took place just look up Novofedorivka Crimea on Google Maps

It turns out it may not have been a missile at all. But partisans. Or maybe something else. Which has its plusses and minuses.  And which also raised the important question of why does "plus" demand a doubling of the "s" in the plural form and "minus" not?

Ukraine suggests partisans behind blasts at Russian airbase in Crimea

A senior Ukrainian official suggested a series of explosions at a Russian air base in Crimea could have been the work of partisan saboteurs, as Kyiv denied any responsibility for the incident deep inside Russian-occupied territory.

The adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy also suggested Russian incompetence as a possible cause of Tuesday's blasts. They killed one civilian and injured eight, according to the health department in Russia-annexed Crimea.

You can bet that they won't have received any news about how the war is going either, so probably believe that they will simply be marching in triumph to Kyiv and beyond.  The Ukrainians should be getting ready to receive multiple defections from the Russian side.  Indeed, should be encouraging them with broadcasts.  Make a few in Korean too, should the story about 100,000 North Korean "volunteers" prove to be true.  "Come to the West, brothers.  Freedom, a pair of Levi's, and a can of Coca-Cola for every one who joins us".

Those 100 000 north korean soldiers is never going to happen, never.

They will all defect to the Ukraine the moment they will see a Soldier from there.

There are a few articles about the awful conditions North Korean soldiers are in.

Again,not going to happen.

Ukraine Live Briefing: Ukraine special forces behind deadly Crimea strike, official says

Tuesday’s airfield explosion in Crimea was the work of Ukrainian special forces, a Ukrainian official told The Post. The official, who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and confirmed Ukraine’s role on the condition of anonymity, did not disclose details of how the attack was carried out. Actually I boycott Steven Seagal movies because I once watched one and don't want to repeat that mistake, but this is another good reason to boycott them.

This is my favourite so far, oh the fog of war, it is at least amusing, however most of the disinformation from the Russian side is pure evil:

Moscow’s excuse-making has sometimes verged on the surreal. In an apparent bid to explain why the much-vaunted Russian military has so far failed to overcome Ukrainian resistance, members of a Russian parliamentary commission declared in mid-July that Ukraine was using mutant soldiers who had been transformed into superhuman killing machines by American scientists.
