Hopefully the peace talks leads to something positive, before these Russian ships start to use whatever they might have in their arsenal.

Does Ukraine have something left for naval warfare?

these are *landing ships*

Ukraine will wait for these troops to land before slinging javelins, NLAW, panzerfaust 3 and other missiles their way.

Not only landing ships according to the article.

Also some Slava class cruise ship and that's definitely not just a landing ship.

I have never been in favour of political assignations, however if Putin was to become a victim I would possible open a bottle of vodka in celebration

it would be pretty hard to find a bottle of vodka because all imports of vodka are banned

When evil strikes it shows no mercy................

"This is a dispatch for history. About a mass grave of children. One killed on the soccer field. Another so young that an umbilical cord is still attached. By the last two international journalists in Mariupol, risking their lives to write.

@ap"

MARIUPOL, Ukraine (AP) — The bodies of the children all lie here, dumped into this narrow trench hastily dug into the frozen earth of Mariupol to the constant drumbeat of shelling.

There’s 18-month-old Kirill, whose shrapnel wound to the head proved too much for his little toddler’s body. There’s 16-year-old Iliya, whose legs were blown up in an explosion during a soccer game at a school field. There’s the girl no older than 6 who wore the pajamas with cartoon unicorns, among the first of Mariupol’s children to die from a Russian shell.

I read they supposedly were hiding in shelters beneath the theater. Hopefully they made it or else this is just another heartbreaking example of Russia breaking all rules of war.

Putins latest speech are not a good sign.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/world/europe/300543483/vladimir-putin-labels-overseas-russian-nationals-traitors-in-scathing-speech

Someone seriously need to wake up in Russia and remove him as soon as possible and replace him with someone that knows it's perfectly possible to live in peace side by side with the west.

Sure but have people even considered that even ridding the world of Putin might not make any difference at this point?

As noted in this video wars are easy to start, but really hard to end.

Yea that latest speech is something else, Putin truly unhinged and dangerous.

Putin Says Russia Must Undergo a 'Self-Cleansing of Society' to Purge 'Bastards and Traitors'

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a speech Wednesday that Russia should undergo a "self-cleaning of society" to get rid of the "bastards and traitors" as thousands of Russians try to flee the country amid its invasion into Ukraine.

Well I suppose on top of the potential 20 million Ukrainian refugees that Putin is creating, the world will have to deal with millions of Russian refugees as well.

The race based hypocrisy of their reception compared to Syrians is ugly and predictable to watch, but that doesn't make their distress  any less real.

It is to late to even think of a peaceful end of the war, since it have already gone to far, and only The west can stop the war now. Putin is not going to give in, and withdraw without victory!

Horrible civilian losses in the two Chechen wars, and many still missing.

Official: Chechen wars killed 300,000

About 300,000 people have been killed during two wars in Chechnya over the past decade, a senior official in the province’s Moscow-backed government said.

Georgia war in comparison

A total of 64 Russian servicemen were killed during last year’s war with Georgia and in the immediate aftermath, while another 283 were wounded

Georgia says 228 Georgian civilians and 169 servicemen were killed.

Yes NATO can rather easily beat Putin if they choose with conventional warfare, but then will Putin use nukes? A very good chance. I've felt WW3 has already started a while back already.

Zero about Russians in occupied areas being killed by insurgents.

Isn't it pretty obvious that is happening in some area's or are you trying to play on the words insurgents, be it insurgents or defense forces or regular forces there are areas been taken back from the Russian forces

Separately, Ukraine forces have retaken the regional airport in the Mykolayiv region, the local governor has said.

While analysts predict Russia should have enough resources to take key parts of Ukraine, holding them could be trickier - with the potential for a drawn-out guerrilla struggle.

LVIV, Ukraine (Reuters) - Ukrainian forces have retaken control of the town of Chuhuiv in northeastern Ukraine, presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych told a briefing on Monday.

Further details were not immediately available on the situation in the town in the Kharkiv region, where fighting has been heavy since Russia invaded Ukraine.

In all fairness, he also said:

“I want to say this for the first time: at the very beginning of the operation in Donbass, to avoid bloodshed, we asked the Kiev authorities through various channels to not engage in hostilities but simply withdraw their troops from Donbass. They didn’t want to,”

Do you think that game fooled anyone?

He speaks to a Ukraine that he's on record as saying isn't a legitimate country AT ALL!

In all fairness, Dunbas is part of Ukraine, tge Russians have no business telling Ukrainian not to station Ukrainian troops in Ukrainian territory.
