Photo looks nice.. relaxing, refreshing, cool and comfortable. 

 

However photo doesn’t show: uncomfortably-high water temperature, uncomfortably-high air temperature, hot sand, extreme humidity and zero cooling with any breeze. 
 

Photo does show: Shallow water! So shallow that the guy furthest out into the sea is still not deep enough to stand up to take a snake’s hiss ????

On a beautiful beach as I speak. Clean water. A little bit of plastic in the morning is not ideal but only a little bit cleared away by 7am. Nice waves. Water not freezing like where I come from in Australia. Water gets deep. Happy.

The guy is right, in general Thai beaches are a disappointment.
 

 I haven’t swam off the beach for years now. And yes the water is generally too warm.

The exception being island beaches  eg Koh Surin.

 

But if you go out on a boat snorkeling etc then you can find cool and clear water.

Complaining about warm water in the tropics?

 

I went skiing once, great fun but it was very cold.........

The guy is a troll. If you go to the beaches from Prachup south to Songlka in hot season you will have warm water, and a long walk out in the sea to get deep. But other than that he is well wrong.

you got that right. why would anyone want any of these <deleted> beaches in thailand overrun with junk. issan is just right. build own place, put own pool in, that's all you need. the problem is going worldwide with the appropriation of public beach, many beaches limited, then the 'bivouac' goes up with endless crammed lines of loungers and umbrellas leaving nothing for others.

I'd argue that people who choose a tropical beach resort for their holiday know about the heat.

 

If hot weather isn't your thing, it's well-known that there are cooler alternatives elsewhere.

Yes, the beaches aren't as good as the Aussie beaches but enjoy the other great things that Thailand has to offer.

As a keen snorkeler i Agree and the Andaman side is far better in that respect. 35 years ago I could see decent marine life off even Patong! I’ve swum most beaches off Phuket and Koh Lanta and little to see now. Have done all the island speedboat tours off Lanta and recently Similans and Phi Phi,but it’s not really feasible to do those other than on occasional basis. Live aboard dive tours to Similans /Surin I did are a distant memory and reports are that generally those sites have deteriorated - as they have generally on a global basis. Ah well….

the biggest problems here is the rubbish on the beaches/in the water as well as the state of the water due to drains etc running straight into it, once you are away from populated areas it is a different story, while the setting looks good on most beaches here the cleanliness is another matter. I find it very hard to compare thai beaches to aussie beaches but they dont have the scenery we have here but are definitely a lot cleaner with better water quality, all boils down to what each individual is looking for

Should we blame the photo for all this?

Or: Why would anybody expect to see on a photo the temperatures, humidity and wind?

If you want to see those then I suggest a weather report.
