Ladyboy murder: Many twists - Lithuanian denies everything and blames mother - dog found with monk

There have been many developments in the murder of 31 year old transgender man Theerapong Lamleua who was found earlier in the week in a storeroom at a house in Prasat district of Surin, NE Thailand.

 

The suspect in the case - now named and Lithuanian not Russian - has blamed the mother who he said liked to steal her son's things.

 

He has denied any involvement and said he was waiting for Theerapong to come to Pattaya. The victim's dog has been found in the possession of an abbot after it was apparently abandoned in a park.

 

Thai Rath reported that the press were allowed access to Marius K., 31, yesterday afternoon following his initial interrogation after his arrest in Pattaya.

 

He continues to deny any involvement after grilling by the Prasat police.

 

Speaking through an interpreter he said the dog was left in a cage at the house and that J.J. (the nickname for Theerapong) had told him to go and wait in Pattaya, he would follow on later because he needed to meet someone.

 

He said he was going to return abroad but J.J. wanted him to stay on in Thailand so he did. 

 

He said he took a phone belonging to the victim because he had two and he was going to repair it. He couldn't remember when he pressed the ATM and how much he withdrew. (Thai Rath did not make the details clear about this, notes ASEAN NOW).

 

He couldn't remember what day he returned to Pattaya. Regarding bloodstains seen on his leg by the mother, that was caused by him scratching and blood on his clothes was caused by a nosebleed, he claimed. 

 

Reporters asked if he didn't murder Teerapong, who did?

 

The suspect said he thought it was probably the mother and an old person whose name he didn't know. He claimed that the mother liked to sell her son's stuff and borrow money from him. There were frequent thefts at the house and the father had issued warnings.

 

He denied there was an argument in a clip that has surfaced at a restaurant reiterating that he was waiting for J.J. and loved him and was very sad at his death.

 

He added in tears that his own mother was very sick and that his elder brother was aware of the trouble facing him in Thailand but was not sure if he would come.

 

Police said that despite all this they were waiting on DNA and other evidence analysis that will be ready shortly.

 

Meanwhile reporters found the victim's dog "Emma" a 5 year old female in the possession of the abbot of Wat Sikhowaram, a monk called Kittitheeraporn.

 

He said that a member of the public found it in a local park and advertised on Facebook for its owner to come forward. He decided to look after it in the meantime.

 

He has named it "Cat" because it likes to play with cats and is lovely and playful and follows him everywhere. 

 

The owner never showed up and then he found out about the murder. 

 

He said that Theeraporn's mother had come to see him as her son was missing and asked him to perform a ceremony. Shortly after she discovered he was dead and asked him to perform a funeral instead.

 

He believed that the spirit of the victim led the mother to him and the subsequent discovery of the body. 

 

He surmised that the "farang" had taken the dog to put in a cage because it would be problematic to take it and had finally decided to let it go in the park.

 

Investigations continue.

If suspect isn't being truthful, he doesn't seem to realize that the Thai police have a fairly sophisticated forensics capability. For example, if the scratches and blood allegedly seen on his body and clothes were related to the murder, that is going to quickly show up in the autopsy and crime scene forensic analysis. This would not be the first case of a foreign suspect thinking they can BS their way past the Thai police.

 

His "explanation for everything" responses to a long series of suspicious "coincidences" and activities reminds me of the 2017 Nordahl Lelandais abduction and murder of 8 year old Maëlys de Araujo at a wedding reception in France. For months on end he claimed his innocence and had an uncanny ability to come up with explanations for every incriminating piece of evidence he was confronted with, only finally confessing after a tiny speck of her blood was discovered in the boot of his car.

Innocent or not, they’ll pin it on him and he’ll either pay up or do time.

Problem, if he doesn't follow thai news.

How he can't remember an exact date of travel of pattaya? Surely planning a few hundred km journey, changing flight tickets to delay departure, dates when he checked in at hotel in Pattaya would be remembered. And police can check them in multiple ways - following his SIM numbers, hotels and immigration records, cameras at bus stations or at petrol stations he stopped.

They can be, if they want to. In the case of Koh Tao (and other cases of influential Thai families), they didn't want to, but, forced to come up with results, rounded up 'the usual suspects', i.e. migrant workers as scapegoats...

Apparently, they are capable, and have decent forensic labs. But, they use their capabilities only when the suspect is worth under 200 million baht. In the case of Dark Tao the headman of Sairee Beach is worth closer to $250 million, mostly from the sale of illicit land, as are the other four families on that dark island, so he was totally above the law. His son was untouchable. So, they found a couple of innocent Burmese to pin this on.

But on the other hand a foreigner must be very stupide to murder someone in Thailand and then stay in Thailand and hope all will be fine.

I get a deja vu of the Kao Tao murders of Burma.....My first question is .. why would he murder the victim??.. Who has given the dog to the monk? If the mother and some one else were stealing from the victim, why not investigate deeper?? Who was JJ meeting ??? And why are there always spirits involved??? I don't believe the Lithaunian man did it.... just because there was no motive as the family would have a motive as their son would move away and they could not steal from him anymore .... as the article says

Not sure why they're referring to the transgender as a 'he' and 'him.' So many other news outlets refer to them as 'she' & 'her'. This victim certainly looked 'far enough transed' to be worthy of the female pronouns... at least if so many others seem to deserve it.

I only know what I have read here, but I find his story quite plausible.  I don't care whether he did or didn't do it (I'm in a bad mood because my neighbour wants to know how to cut onions). I personally haven't the faintest idea when I last went to the ATM, I know it was recently.   I personally think that the charming Mum did it.

Not in a million years do I buy that would happen. There are phone repair shops in Prasat, and in my experience even in more touristic locations, phone repair shops are the type of places that don't have very good English, you're better speaking Thai or going with someone who does. 

 

I don't believe any person would be comfortable to hand their phone over to someone traveling hundreds of miles away, for them to then travel those hundreds of miles alone and phoneless. 

 

Having a phone is one of the main things you need these days when traveling. It's how people book flights, check tickets/times, navigate etc. 

 

It's like, you know if you lose everything else, but still have your phone, you'll be okay.

 

With a phone, you're never adrift, without it, you are. 

 

For me, him having her phone skews guilt heavily towards him.
