Phuket tuks are 300 baht short trip. Bangkok 50 baht.

Fairly normal question to ask.

Why give 10 responses of no value?

I wouldn't give one thought to 300, 50 or 10 baht.

I sure as heck wouldn't be worried about overspending or running out of money!

But then there's always 7-11 clerks, so please don't say I'm all negative. 555.

Please please please don't go into a 7/11 and when  the female cashier tries out her English on you and speaks to you in English "Would it like it hot" when she's scanning your ready meal .

Don't take that as she's making a pass at you and is interested in you and then go back to the same 7/11 every evening hoping to chat to the cashier .

Standing next to the till and trying to engage in conversation with her between her serving customers noticing the condoms and KY jelly for sale at the counter and trying not to make eye contact with them .

"Where did you learn English then ?" Do you come here often ?"

"What time you finish work ?"

Spending a few evening standing by the till in 7/11 trying to make friends with the cashier .

Just don't , don't even think about it

So you cant answer the question.

Here is a thought?

For your same question?

How much is a tuk tuk?

For 50 meters?

For 1 kilometer?

For 10 kilometers?

Doesn't it really depend on where you are and exactly where you need to go?

I hope this helps you out.

For my personal taste Buriram is definitely the best source.

I guess 80% of the girl who I like and talk to and ask where they come from tell me: Buriram.

Small, brown, petite, lovely.

Buri Ram is not just a city, it's an entire Province and quite a large one at that. One of the poorer provinces but fortunately not too far away from Pattaya. No surprise, that a very large number of Hostesses come from the province of Buri Ram.

There are some very pretty girls in Buriram but I spent a long weekend there and the locals were not the least bit interested - I was pretty much ignored, which was a bit of a novelty.

On the other hand, I have met many that have travelled to Phuket for "work" and they most definitely are interested!

As long as living in the village, they resemble Mother Theresa. When going to work in a Tourist hotspot, they undergo a frightening change of character, as soon as they step off the bus.

I observed this "metamorphosis" numerous times. Not sure if I should call them naturally born "chameleons" or they all  simply deserve an "Oscar" for best performing actresses.

Pattaya is a strange place, they would have to act being with a 70yo stranger when they are 25.

So post the answers then. If you have no idea just say so.

No idea where you are, and where you want to go.

Use your brilliant Thai, which I am sure is not Isaan dialect, to see if you can communicate once you are on the ground, with a tuk tuk driver to get yourself from point A to point B

If 300 baht per trip is going to break the bank, stay home for a couple more years until you can save enough money.

Anybody who thinks Isaan is one big open-air brothel or that young woman will be eagerly throwing themselves at middle-aged and older foreign men is going to be sorely disappointed.

Small villages/small towns:

Forget it. I said forget it. Not going to happen. You think some cutie waitress is going to throw her apron on the floor and run off with papa Tommy Bahama with a rental car? Read my lips. Not going to happen. Most of the farm girls who end up working bar only do so after their teenage marriage fails. Usually they've got a child or two as well. They tend to be the prettier girls, but they also tend to be the less smart ones, and the lazy as hell ones. The ones who stay behind in the village are less attractive, but harder working, more dutiful wives with pleasant personalities, know how to cook, etc. So everyone's already married, usually fairly happily, with kids. Smattering of older divorced women and widowers. In most villages, there's a demographic wasteland of mid-20's to mid-45 unmarried women.  In some rural areas there's an actual shortage of women; anyone even halfway attractive is snatched up on waivers, practically sight unseen. I see a lot of Thai men with women who are older than them, or couples where the guy is more physically attractive than the wife is physically attractive.  People gossip like crazy in villages. In a village setting, no woman is going to be dropping her drawers for you out of fear of being labeled a Jezebel. Her reputation would be lost forever.  Most of the people she knows she's known all her life. Someone who just shows up one day is going to be like a shape shifting T-1000, yeah, an alien, that word everyone bristles at. Whirlwind romances with foreign men are a dime a dozen down in Pattaya, but scarce as hen's teeth in a village.

Larger towns and cities:

Yeah, there might be co-eds thinking they can turn you into a side hustle, but if you're looking for a serious girlfriend or wife, it doesn't seem very realistic to me. Those girls have more options than they did in the past. Plus, what contribution does the predatory behavior of luring college co-eds into P4P arrangements make to Thai society? Oh, I forgot, you're financing her studies, you philanthropist, you. LOL. Shopkeepers, waitresses, bank tellers? Color me skeptical. Their free time is so limited. But then there's always 7-11 clerks, so please don't say I'm all negative. 555. You'll probably end up looking for companionship in one of these seedy karaoke bars or outdoor live entertainment halls which cater to mostly Thais customers, where the waitresses sometimes sit with customers, are older and oftentimes not very attractive girls, and some of whom have returned to Isaan after long stints in Pattaya or other red-light districts.

What I guess I'm saying is I don't think Isaan wants or needs any roving p*$$y hounds masquerading as tourists.

Most accurate "small village" life description I have read so far. Congrats.

No village beauty (with no connection to prior Tourist hotspots) will get involved with a Farang unless firm prior commitment(s) were forthcoming by the Farang. = "Loss of face" is still a big thing in a small Thai village.
Any "pick-up" happens in Tourist hotspots, but certainly not in a small Thai village.

Yes, in some villages , there seems only to be Children and Grandparents .

There are very few people between the ages of 20 and 50 .

Typically there will be Children living with the Grandparents and everyone else working in the city

What villages have you been to?

Why were you there?

Bars in cities does not equal small town Isaan villages

Aside of grape peeling, my wife still insists on cutting up my food anytime we go out to eat.

I have to quietly shoo her away from this habit

Ah yes, I get that too.  She carefully selects the best combination of flavours from the range of Thai dishes on the table, and puts the combo on my spoon.  To be honest, she's really good at it, so I just go with the flow and enjoy the culinary experience.

I thought it was just us - so I'm happy to hear it may be a general Thai Girl thing.

Thanks for your information.

They all told me they come from a small village.

But with all those girls from Buriram I thought the village can't really be so small.

Now finally you opened my eyes where they all come from. ????

I found the Pattaya girls unattractive compared to Phuket. Not my cup of tea.

Then you clearly don't understand the idea of partnership. That's all I'm going to say.

So you admit to paying now.

Look at all the married expats in Isaan, bought a house, land, cars, support an extended family. Do the right thing like normal people.

I don't think this is "like normal people".

They just bought a girl for a much higher price than Spark wants to pay. Many met their wife in Pattaya,  anyway.
