Popular Post Adumbration Posted August 18, 2022 Popular Post Posted August 18, 2022 When to the Honda shop the town closest to my village home yesterday. I want to buy three new 125 waves...cash... No stock and four month wait. I speak good Thai so no issues about misinterpretation. I was given a brochure with the lass's phone number on it and a the pricing hand written as well. 56K550 for the two colour model with alloy wheels and 54K650 for single color with steel spoked wheels. Today I had my GF call the biggest dealer in my province which is in a town about 1.5 hours drive from my village. They had one bike (steel rim version) in stock. And the price.... 60K650. I was sat next to my GF while she was making the call. But they did not know I was there and listening in so not Raka Farang. I asked my GF to cover the phone and then told her to enquire why the price was 6K more than the local dealership I went to yesterday. The sales girl ummed and rrrrred and then doubled down on her lie. The 6K was to pay for registration. I told my GF to hang up and then to call the dealership I went to yesterday. The sales girl there confirmed the price of 54K650 was all up and included on road costs as well as free helmet and shopping basket. So the sales person at the other bigger dealership is skimming 6K extra either for her own pocket or by request of her boss. Hilarious really, in first world country if a Honda dealership pulled these types of scams they would lose their franchise...and probably end up in court as well. Amazing Thailand. Any one bought a new wave 125 in the last month or so and want to share your experience and price paid? 3
Popular Post dj230 Posted August 18, 2022 Popular Post Posted August 18, 2022 I wouldn't call it a scam, dealerships are marking up vehicles now over MRSP and have been for a few years (in first world countries too), supply and demand. 2 1
gargamon Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 How old are you anyway? Funny you haven't figured this out by now. It's the same all over the world, not just Thailand. The sales <removed> will tell any lie they can think of to extract as much money as possible from your pocket. Not just vehicle sales, everything you buy has the same problem. 1 1 1

It's called doing business. Astute shoppers shop around. If you get bitten its your own fault! 2
Maybole Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Some 4 years ago my sister-in-law went to a motorcycle dealer to enquire about a new scooter. She was giver a brochure and a price and informed of a 4 week wait. After enquiring at several dealers, she went back to the first. I took her there and went in with her, the price jumped by 8,00 baht. 1
Hummin Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 How many years spent in Thailand did you say? Dealership have different prices world wide with different packages, delivery cost etc. You should know that by now, and not use terms like corruption when its business. If you paid them 10k to get my bike who was supposed to have my bike delivered tomorrow, then you might call it corruption.
papa al Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 So the price of a bike actually for sale is 6KB [$170] more than the same one that does not exist.? Go for the imaginary one.
Popular Post jastheace Posted August 18, 2022 Popular Post Posted August 18, 2022 how does that old joke go...? customer at fruit and veg stall... customer- How much are your potatoes? seller- 50 pence a pound sir. customer- what? that's extortionate. the other guy said 20 pence a pound and he's sold out... seller- well sir, when we've sold out, we'll do them for 18 pence a pound, OK? 8 minutes ago, papa al said: So the price of a bike actually for sale is 6KB [$170] more than the same one that does not exist.? jastheace Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 this is nothing new. when i was looking for a new pickup, one dealer had exactly the one i wanted, spec, colour etc, except it was his demo on red plates with 800 km on the clock. price was a few MORE kbaht than a brand new one ordered for delivery on a lead time of 3 months. why? because you can have it now.... dealers like to keep a few on the forecourt for show maybe, then they have to wait a few months to replace it? like i said, nothing new going on. i didn't want to wait....
CharlieH Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 The somewhat exaggerated topic title has been adjusted. 2
scubascuba3 Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 I've seen it reported a few times that Hondas are going for more than MRSP, that doesn't explain why one garage is not, so probably demand and supply, go with the cheaper price and wait
seedy Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Ford Bronco for sale in Cali 50K over MSRP - Why ? Supply and demand Same Same E Mustang

kickstart Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 We brought a new Wave 125 two colour ,mag wheels, that was 60k baht also, that was 4-5 months ago,the last one we brought was 4 years ago that was 50k baht. I was surprised at the price ,this was the third Wave we have brought from this shop ,so we know them,.and they are normaly the cheapest in the area, they did say they were a shortage of Waves . And we have 3-4 Honda dealers in the area ,I did not check all of them, but one other did say 60k . It used to be shops do not like cash sales ,they lose out on they cut of the HP agreement ,as the average HP agreement here in Thailand runs at 30% interest ,a few of these will add up,so they could ? up the cash price, so they make a bit more.
Henryford Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 I enquired about a new Click 160 in Pattaya. They wanted 5,000 above MRP. Things must have changed as i bought the tgf a Click 150i a year ago and even got a small discount against MRP. I am waiting for the new ADV 160 but hate to think what the premium and wait might be on that.

Funny you say that, in my local fruit market they sell certain fruit for 20 baht or 25 baht same seller, says same just different price
NoshowJones Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 A few years ago I went to buy a Wave 125 at my local dealer. I was paying cash, I wanted a basket on the front then was quoted another 300+ Bt. I said no and told her I wanted it included on the bike, she said no, so I walked away. She obviously was not on any commission for the sale.
