King Charles 'told' Prince Harry not to bring wife Meghan Markle to Balmoral Castle as he and other senior royals rushed to the beside of the dying Queen, it was reported last night.

 

Amid the personal family tragedy on Thursday, when the Queen died at the age of 96, a small domestic drama was playing out involving the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

 

It was a fortunate coincidence of sorts that Harry and Meghan were in the country when the prince's grandmother passed away, sparing him an emotional and undoubtedly traumatic transatlantic dash as the Queen's health failed.

 

Despite the rancour of the past few years, no one would begrudge him the chance to mourn his beloved 'Granny', with whom he had always enjoyed a warm and fun-loving relationship.

I think King Charles suggestion was correct in this situation .......   but it's not news worthy imo.

I think it is, it shows to me that the now King is not mollycoddling the bloke for stabbing his family in the back....????

I'm hoping the passing of this gracious lady will mark the beginning of the end of this anachronistic monarchy.  At the very least I can now hope that my country will become a republic without the new entitled toff remaining as our head of state.

I can't think about this lot without remembering how they became what they are, nor wonder why people in this modern world still kowtow to this hybrid German-Anglo bunch.

It is certainly a strange world we live in, where a woman who commits adultery on her husband by having an affair with the then Prince Charles, who in turn commits adultery on his new wife, devastating her, and IMO was a huge insult to a naïve newcomer to that circle of royalty, then becomes Queen Consort, or Queen Camilla as she has also been referred to – – mediaeval stuff and certainly not worthy of the kowtowing to the new king or her.

 

On the other hand Queen Elizabeth was a product of her time, and did her duty as was her wont, and did it well, and I have all respect for her, but she is now gone and it's about time for a shakeup, and I certainly have no respect for Charles, the silly old duffer, and I can't get out of my mind his speech some 10 years ago, when he referred in public to the Queen as "mummy"!!! Speaks volumes.

Not forgetting the millions that tourists pay to visit the UK because of the fact there is a monarchy and its history. Not forgetting the millions profit the state receives from the crown each year (last year the crown handed over £300+ million. The government returned circa £125 million as the annual royal grant)

How many tourists actually got to even see the Queen, even from miles away?    They come to see the palaces and castles which do not require a monarchy to be present.   One of the most popular tourist destinations in France is still the Palace of Versailles and they haven't had a monarchy since 1792 so the tourist argument for retaining a monarchy is a non-starter.   

 

I've always been indifferent to the Royal family, and it grates when they occupy so much of the news agenda - I have no idea (for example) why I am supposed to be interested when someone does something as normal as saying hello to someone or waves out of a window or car which, quite frankly, any human is capable of doing.   

 

At least a "president" is selected by the people, which gives them significantly more credibility than an accident of birth.  If the monarchy was disbanded there would be nothing stopping King Charles III putting his name forward to be president and if that is what the people wanted then he could become head of state on merit, rather than based on who his mum was.   

It can't be long before there will be some "news" from Meghan how difficult others make her life because that old woman died. Meghan is obviously the center of the universe - when will those people around her understand this and treat her with the respect she deserves?

Would think many visit UK & EU simply for curiosity, or even to check out their 'roots'.  Afterwards, may realize why their ancestors left ????

 

USA having no royals for 2039 ish yrs, and in 2019 had 79 million tourist, more than UK population.  Must of visited to see Trump.

Obviously the Queen didn't approve of Meghan and didn't want anything to do
