Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC 2022) in Bangkok in November, Thailand’s security department reported on Wednesday, October 11th.

According to the report, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ordered security, including military and police, to prepare for security management prior to the world leaders’ meeting between November 18th and the 19th.

The Russian President has already accepted Thailand’s invitation while Chinese President Xi Jinping’s attendance is still pending confirmation and US President Joe Biden has confirmed to send a representative on his behalf.

Today update, the Russian Ambassador said Pootin has not yet accepted the invitation, and a decision will be made at a later date. So there you have it.

As neither have been China, India, OPEC+ and most countries outside US/Nato.

If you can't be polite, you won't get a reply in future.

Personally, I thought it was wrong that bush was allowed to come here in 2004; what he did in Iraq was much worse than what Putin is doing in Ukraine.

You must be Russian.

Surely you are aware of the atrocities being committed by Russia and Putin.

However he's got every right to come and Thailand has never been picky to whom they crawl into bed with.

None so blind as he who refuses to see...

I was in Iraq in 2003 and believe you me there is no correlation between Bush and what Putin has done, none

Putin is a mad dog who has invaded his neighbour threatened nuclear holocaust and perpetrated genocide on his neighbour

I hate Blair and Bush but Putin is a whole different level, he singlehandedly has made his country a pariah state and if Thailand is cosying up to him they will be judged and rightly so

If you choose to believe Russia's abject lies even when the rest of the world can see through him, even though there is an abundance of independent information freely available then I fear you need to give your head a good wobble and take off the rose-coloured specs,  just my opinion of course...

Putin would send a look alike or just not even appear to attend.

Russia is battling in Ukraine for its own security and that of Russians living there.

Can you explain that ?

I have problems understanding this, what threat was the Ukraine to the Russians?

Read, reason and refute (if you can) with facts. Emotional outbursts betray an inability to think for oneself.

Nope I stand by every word, have a look anywhere online with any respected news agency and that's not Tass or Iranian media by the way!

If you look you will find countless reports of war crimes torture and genocide. You will also see reports of Russian terror tactics (for which they are renowned for as they are incapable of conducting a modern war) such as widespread targeting of civilians

They appear to be weak, disorganised and cowardly and if you are taken in by their blatant lies then I won't be entering into any pigeon chess with yourself as I believe youy must be a troll and I certainly won't be feeding you!

Sure. Not Ukraine itself which is poor and corrupt. But the the threat of expansion of Nato into that cesspit.

US reneged on its promise not to expand Nato not once but twice in the nineties because it didn't give a damn about what a then weak Russia thought. A stronger Russia said thus far and no farther (see Putin's Munich speech) in 2007.

But the US carried merrily on. The Nuland-organized coup in 2014 was the last straw. You could say this war actually started then. The rest as they say is history and you can read up about it as easily as I.

We must be reading from different sources,i get a totally different

idea from reading.

Do you think that what russia is doing to civilians in the Ukraine and even targeting schools and hospitals is justified?Never i my book.

I think Putin has shot himself in both feet with this one,i find it ironic that a few countries that did not belong to NATO now are becoming a member because of what Putin did!

Putin is not going to get away with this ,i have watched a lot of videos of what is going on inside russia now and the people are not happy.

Sure most people will talk to interviewers and appear to support the war but they all realize they can not really say what they want.

I am on a totally other side then you seem to be on,you see Putin as a hero? Why?

How come hundreds of thousands have fled Russia?

You can find that information on many different platforms.

Have you seen how the new recrutes are being send to the front to die?

No gear,no food and absolutely no motivation.

As a European citizen i feel the brave Ukranian army is fighting

our fight. If they would surrender Putin will just keep going to try and remake the old USSR.

imo 20 of the russians support Putin,30% are against him and what he is doing and the other 50% wants just to be left alone and go on with their lives.

30 and 50 put together can change things in a hurry.

All this to fulfill the ego of one man?He needs to be stopped!

Sure. This one?

Russians aren't targeting civilians and they never have, western media smears notwithstanding. In fact, Putin went in with kid gloves and a lot of military analysts are saying screwed up in the process.

Putin's thinking was an initial show of intent would be enough to bring Ukraine (well, actually US/Nato) to the negotiating table and get some form of the Minsk accords implemented. He was wrong. The West didn't want hostilities to end. They thought they could sanction/bleed Russia to its knees. They were wrong.

The Russian economy is pretty much sanction-proof, the ruble is the best performing currency in the world, Russia has unlimited food and energy and Russians for the most support Putin and the war.

But Russians don't like their civilian infrastructure being targeted and are getting impatient with Putin's slow mo approach. So the gloves are going to come off. Surovikin has a fiery reputation. And so there will certainly be massive collateral civilian damage, if that's what you are worried about, for which Ukraine/Nato will have only themselves to blame.

Your first sentence says "Russians aern't targeting civilians". But in the last sentence you say "there will massive civilian damage".

So actually you are fos.

I always like a laugh a day..so thanks for that.

Firstly, I said "Russians aren't targeting ...", not "Russians aern't targeting ..." That's a pretty ugly typo which I didn't make. Did you actually write out what I wrote instead of copy/paste? No ...

Furthermore, "aren't" is present tense, "will be" is future. Jeez, I feel like a college-educated person (which I am) patiently explaining things to a high-school dropout (which I have no  idea if you are).

naive, tedious and boring, a real winning combination...

Gives Ukraine plenty of time to prepare.

Inflammatory, troll posts and replies reported and removed.

Those in Thailand in 2006 know that an excellent time to stage a coup is when the leader is away.

Three points:

There was never a promise to not expand NATO.

If Russia had not threatened its neighbors, they would never have requested NATO membership.

Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs "Toria" Nuland did not organize the coup.  It was a legitimate rebellion by Ukrainians against the corrupt Russian puppet government of President Viktor Yanukovych.

It won't be long now.  Biden just signed into law the latest sanctions on China.  Thailand makes the midrange chips for the world.. They will surely sell to China and then Thailand will be put on the list.

It's inevitable at this point.

Thailand , China , Russia , and a few others will be holding hands and singing their anthem. As the rest of the world passes them by and forgets them.

Hope his Aircraft has an uncontrolled landing.

Jeez, can't I get this point across that it's not what you or I think re Russian security that matters. It's what Russia thinks. See Putin's 2007 Munich speech. He perceives Nato expansion as aggression. You can argue as much as  you like that it isn't and promises were never made, but he's the one who decides Russian policy (I did give you the example of the Cuban missile crisis where US/Russia positions were reverse).

What I meant was is there any record of Russia threatening any of the five new NATO aspirants (other than Ukraine)? Again, just like Russia decides its security concerns, so do these countries. Russia's never made an issue of Finland, Sweden et al joining NATO. They are free to act in their own interests.

And your line about Nuland's captured tape reminds me of a former gf. If she didn't agree with something it was a lie and she would get mad if I didn't come around to her pov. But, lordie, when she was good and mad she was a tiger in bed. I miss her.

You never tried to get the point that what Putin thought was what mattered, you accused the US of starting the war by betraying promises to Russia, promises that were never made.  You believed Russian propaganda about broken promises about NATO expansion, now that you've been shown that the propaganda was a lie you are claiming "that's not what I meant...".

You also have not provided any evidence to support your claim that the Maidan revolution was "The Nuland-organized coup in 2014...".  Please tell us how the Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs organized this coup.  No YouTube videos; actual, credible, documented facts.

Absolutely.

What's a couple dozen war crimes...I mean why let slaughtering kids in schools or patients in hospitals or shoppers in markets get in the way of a photo op and all that added 'prestige' of hosting an APEC event while his armed forces brutalize innocent people? Really, hasn't this 'cancel culture' gone too far!

A man of such 'accomplishment' as putin gives Thai people 'face' when he visits. Talk about a 'quality tourist'! Little vladdy has more dosh that elon musk!

Consider just some of his accomplishments.........putin made his name mercilessly slaughtering 200,000 men, women and children when he was put in charge of tamping down that little wayward area called Chechnya. Heck, he even set the stage for the carnage by his false flag attack on a russian apartment building. And the way he deals with critics is the envy of miscreant dictator wannabes like 45: he had journalist Anna Politskovskaya shot in the head. He took out Alexander Litvinenko with polonium tea. He shot Boris Nemtsov so close to his Kremlin office the windows rattled. He opted for dioxin to take out former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, but only succeeded in disfiguring him. "Sadly", he sent a couple of incompetent GRU goombahs to the UK to try to erase Sergei Skripal with some Novichok, but instead killed a Brit. Oh, and just to show how resourceful and inventive the little guy is, he took a man suspected of being a CIA asset and fed him alive into a furnace while the man's wife and children were forced to look and listen to the man's horrific screams. The kiddies sure aren't going to forget that!

Morality is for other people.

Didn't Edmund Burke say that?
