Does anything work here?

I have, over the last two days had the "pleasure"(?) of attempting to use two websites, one run by Lazada ( not their sales website) and one by Krung Thai Bank. Neither works properly. The Lazada site is virtually unreadable, and keeps insisting that it can not complete any function because the "parama" is wrong, whatever a "parama" is. I enquired of customer service, they replied with some unintelligible gibberish about money laundering!

The KTB NetBank site has not been able to provide me with a statement for over a week now, when you enter the date range the boxes reset to "Na-Na-Na"!

Krung Thai helpline ( normally unavailable) advised me to use their app. I downloaded it, of course it doesn't work - it asks for my passport number then refuses to accept it.

How does this country expect to remain vaguely competitive if their IT is such a consistent shambles?

Go to 7/11 buy an icecream. At least that will work.

And because you didn't understand what they tried to explain to you, you call it "unintelligible gibberish"? Interesting.   Next topic: Are all falangs in Thailand stupid?

It’s what I call an “imposter society,” i.e., one whose system of education doesn’t really educate anyone. Consequently, you have a workforce populated by people who are simply pretending to be qualified to do their jobs and who must constantly work to conceal their lack of knowledge.

It’s no wonder all the hi-sos send their children abroad to be educated.

Dose those websites work on your mobile phone properly? if the do, it mean something is wrong with your computer presumably you're having difficulties accessing those sites on your computer...

I use the KTB netbank website all the time, never a problem.  Don't use Lazada, so have no idea.

I misread your topic as:

"does anyone work here?"

The answer to that question is:

NO!

Absolute nonsense, work with loads of qualified people here.

Problems with websites and mobile apps are not confined to Thailand of course. It's a question of priorities. Where I am we get water, electricity and internet 'upon demand' i.e. no waiting for the 'hours of availability' as in some Countries. Interruptions in supply are rare and speedily restored. All roads are either tarmac or concrete. I've never been marooned and/or unable to travel anywhere because it's rained/raining. We enjoy weekly refuse collections at home and daily collections at my wife's shop. Where I previously lived some local Council's didn't provide a refuse collection service.

don't rely on translate function on your web browser,

if a site is in Thai only with no option to change to English, it's probably not meant for us, and attempting to do so via translate function would only run into problems

It isn't a "consistent shambles".

KTB is in English, so is Lazada.

Lazada made me trouble at the login (name/password) requiring captchas, unlock with code via mail that never arrived (might be the mail provider bouncing anything from Thailand).

In the end I gave up and created a new account based on my mobile nr. and a Gmail account.

Works Ok since then.

Then what are talking about when you say it is unusable?

I, and many members, use it regularly and successfully, with the odd glitch now & then, As for your banking app ?????

Pretty happy with the Lazada app.  Glad many things here only 'kind of' work (like the 'kind of' revenue department????).

Things are 'getting better' though, put in a complaint on the electric company (MEA) website a few weeks ago -not really expecting any results- that a repair team had left (presumably non live) wires brushing up against my house... 8am the next day there was a team out there fixing it, I was like WTH, this might have taken months or a year back in the good ol' day.

the man who cooks my bbq pork works very well and hard...as do millions upon millions of other ordinary Thais.....everyday...

don't get me started about trying to deal with dozens of big usa companies and a range of online problems, apps that don't work, wifi going down, poor to nonexistent government services, poor or no customer service, and much much more...does thailand get it all correct...not by a long shot but they sure are not alone in the world of incompetence..

on the bright side some things do seem to work quite well in thailand and many other places...

That doesn't mean the above user knows that.

I saw people using the translate function when they could have just pressed the EN button...

The OP seems to have no problem posting his grievance on ASEAN.

Actually, I am faced with the situation in reverse. iHerb in the US has lost my business because some bean counter has decided it's a good idea to scrap the call center where I could talk to a human being about my current problem with all their products appearing in Thai on their website. Lazada has taken over, selling the same products in English on their website. I have never had a problem with Lazada, buy plenty of stuff through them.

Never a problem with Lazada.

I go to my bank if i need to.

Amazes me that people automatically jump to "its their fault"  something wrong with them etc, and not probably just simple user error or a lost in translation issue. This is Thailand not all things are geared or even written to be compatible with English and its foreign users.

try visiting lazada for the first time, the translate function popped up more clearly than where the website's own 'change language' option

and the translate function works, until you come up to find edge case where you get gibberish that you don't understand

Some sites have the "English" hidden in a menu labeled in Thai script ????

I ordered for the first time on Lazada yesterday.

Worked like a charm.

Talked with the Thai seller.

Asked him for a favor. He said yes.

Absolutely lovely and helpful.

You must do something wrong OP...

I dunno. Check your parameters maybe ?

Or shall I say... Check your parama ? ????????

My post (the OP) specifically stated that it was a website operated by Lazada, but NOT their main sales website.
