He was trying to call on the phone his 35-year-old German wife for help while pointing a knife at his neck inside

Wonder what movie he was watching before the police arrived ?

Umm in the USA?  If that happened to an illegal overstayer he would have lawyers begging him for business , probably sue and win. Then he would get a statue somewhere.

I suspect our resident Brit-hater, Gottfrid is going to be extremely quiet on this thread !!!! ????

Seems he was a horrific neighbour with his dogs chasing kids etc.

They’ll be happy to see the back of him - it must have been horrible living next to this character.

Guess you missed the part of the guy throwing bottles at the cops and trying to blow up the neighborhood. In any country in the west he wouldn't be alive to call any lawyer.

Sounds like a Monday night in Detroit or Chicago.

he has (aparently) overstayed his visa. he hasnt killed anyone, has he? it's heavy handed and you know it.

Well that is quite true for a bit... But then he started acting like a lunatic, and my level of sympathy dramatically decreased.

Why were the press invited?

To give the pretense that the Police are doing their job!

From the article:

"Their dogs (Rottweilers) were allegedly chasing after kids and motorbikes"

I have zero tolerance for this German's behaviour when it comes to the safety of children. This self-absorbed piece of garbage needs to be locked up, fined and deported. The Thai police and rescue workers have my sympathy for having to deal with this piece of garbage.

Just goes to show - not all tools produced in Germany are of high standard / quality.

as he was reportedly afraid to be arrested for an alleged overstay.

As if resisting and getting arrested on further charges...while on overstay...is gonna help his situation any! Wankjob. :coffee1:

If it was in the UK, they'd be preparing a 5* hotel room for him and giving him a bit of spending money.

I'd be distraught and upset too if I had to go back to Germany

Two Rottweilers? overstayers? ok, forget him a few years in IDC.

It does take time to get an answer from Genecards regarding the alleged German .

err, in the picture? 8 coppers dragging him out his house by the scruff of the neck not enough for you???

Do not act the fool and you will not be treated as one

Upset the neighbours with his behaviour, and they reported him. Then causes a stand off with the police and tries to pull down power lines.

Doesn't say how long the couple had overstayed,  but he certainly hasn't done his case any good if he he had any chance of returning sometime in  the future.

The IO stated likely deported and blacklisted.

If the cops didn't shoot him first

He was acting irrationally, he was a danger to himself and others, the police in Germany wouldn't have acted differently. The man obviously has mental issues and wasn't open to a peaceful settlement. He chose to overstay and is now suffering the consequences.

I can understand why he was so upset, with German immigration policies being so free and open over the last 100 years or so.

If he's upset about German immigration policies, he should stay in GerMoney and solve his problems there.

So would I. But I wouldn't behave like this.

In the US, he would likely have been shot and killed. He sounds like an absolute fool. Though I give the cops here very little reason to harass me, I find them to be relatively easy to deal with, and rarely ever do they overly flex their power like in the US. Some departments in the US are worse than others. Many cops there are drunk with power. Some are here too. But, not nearly as many, and they are significantly less obnoxious here.

You always show up at these posts about Thai police matters and insert an "If it was the US, they'd have already shot him..." comment.

Are you sure you aren't a Chinese sock puppet here to spread disinformation?

Looks like he'll get his wish to stay in Thailand a while longer, though his next domicile may be a little more crowded...

What the hell does the USA have to do with the story the greatest country in the world ????????

So what should the police / immigration officers do if he's not cooperating, just walk away?

Overstay is a serious problem in any country.

Go over in Australia and the search to find you starts immediately and is very serious and they find 99% of overstayers very quickly. There's no 'if it's not convenient now, when should we come back?'

Except my country of UK, it seems. But only if you enter illegally in the first place.

treating overstayers like animals now. how nice.

From what I can see, he's brought it all on himself.  Given his behaviour both before and after arrest, I'm not at all surprised at his treatment.  He's been causing problems for his neighbours and generally behaving like a git. The way he was handled was not because he was an overstayer - it was because of his behaviour.

What was he expecting - a visa extension?

Never mind, he'll have a few days eating slop and sharing a room with 20 other people, enjoying all the niceties of an immigration jail whilst he contemplates what a d*%k he's been. Next, a lifetime ban before being returned to his homeland that is just entering winter!

Well done that man! One of life's winners, living the dream.
