Daily News Thai Caption: Trustworthiness?

 

Daily News reported that comments online by Thais went ballistic after a post by a hospital in the North East about dress codes.

 

Many netizens felt the authorities were treating front line medical staff like children at school not responsible, free adults. 

 

The hospital at the center of the drama was not named, a common feature in defamation fearing Thailand.

 

The new rules were contained in a post on a fan page that translates as "not doctors complaining - aggressivenotdoctor".

 

 

Female nurses were told not to have skirts shorter than one inch above the knee.

 

And they mustn't be too tight either.

 

Slacks were advised but these mustn't show off the legs.

 

Hair must be a natural tone - no fancy dyes. And no clips.

 

Black, navy blue and dark grey clothing colors were important to create trust among patients and visitors, the edict continued.

 

Too much lipstick, mascara and false eyelashes were all banned.

 

Men were told to have hair that wasn't dyed and did not reach further than the collar in length. 

 

Most netizens thought it was all well OTT - and just like being back at school again.

Well heck. I suspect the nurses in short tight skirts are what gave many sick men the hope and desire to get better and get out of there so they can chase more women wearing short tight skirts. Is there any better medicine for a man than a beautiful sexy woman wearing a short tight skirt? I think not. I don't care what their age or ailment is.

I am sure if ill in hospital ....seeing a nurse walking around in

a very short dress would perk you up a bit .....but we cannot

have that ,

One of my ex-students as a medical intern in a hospital had to dye her hair darker as the natural tone was not dark enough (but apparently ok for the doctors to have dyed hair). Seems we still live in the dark ages.

This has inspired me to order one for the Mrs, we can now play Dr's and Nurses, hurry up with that order of mine Shoppe as my stethoscope is rising from the excitement.

 

The early replies on this tend to agree with the netizens and think it’s ott. Personally, when I go to hospital I want to be attended by a professional looking nurse, not someone dressed like an escort. So, sorry guys, but I pretty much agree with the ‘new rules.’

This is not that much different than any hospital I have been in or worked at.  If you want to wear a naughty nurse costume then do it at home.  A hospital is a business and a nurses uniform is exactly that a uniform

even better is visiting the navy and army hospitals great uniforms  certainly wouldn't need Viagra..

i agree 100%...trying to cheapen healthcare professionals is really out of order.

So you judge their professionalism by what they wear? As long as they do their job properly they can wear whatever they like as far as I'm concerned.

I'm in hospital at the moment and the nurses are all great, efficient and caring. Some dress a bit sexy, some do not. Who cares?

Nurse Ratched, you have an admirer.

When I was married to a Thai Head Ward Nurse (slim build), most of the time she wore slacks. When there were going to meetings or the like  she did wear a skirt. However, one day she had to rush out of a meeting to help with a mass emergency and she found the skirt restrictive in the circumstances.

Shades of my beginning teaching daze in Western Kentucky. Hair length, no facial hair, females - no pantsuits. Seen going into or out of a bar and you were addressed in the Superintendents Office and … ready? Two teachers divorced, the Superintendent interviewed and fired one of them. Bit of “culture shock” for an East Coast metropolitan, multiethnic upbringing.
