Koh Samui, Surat Thani — A Danish man was shocked after finding out that his three houses he owns with his Thai wife on Koh Samui were burgled, with property worth more than three million baht in total missing.

The victim, Mr. Andersen Bren Michael, 43, and his unnamed Thai wife revealed their plight to local media that their three houses located in the Maenam subdistrict of Koh Samui district, Surat Thani province, were completely emptied and destroyed by burglars while they were traveling aboard five months ago.

The three wooden houses had two stories and sat relatively far from the populous areas on Koh Samui, Michael told local media. several of his possessions were stolen, such as one mountain bike worth 50,000 baht, four air conditioners worth 80,000 baht, four leather sofas worth 120,000 baht, one television worth 30,000 baht, and much more.

Additionally, the houses were destroyed, with punctured ceilings and walls, and trash everywhere. The total damages exceeded three million baht, according to Michael.

Two male burglars on a motorbike were seen coming back and forth from the houses and taking many possessions away, said the victim’s relative and witness Ms. Montha Sukkong. The houses were usually taken care of by a maid, but she left five months ago.

3 houses left empty! How about renting a couple, which would mean someone to keep an eye on the third? OR not sacking/ letting go the maid to save a few baht- it's not like he couldn't afford her.

Burglars were seen- but not stopped, apparently, hmmmm. Wonder why?

I guess the m'bike must have been very large to steal the below. Perhaps it had one of those sidecar things on it.

With all the additional damage (punctured ceilings and walls) it looks like this might have been "personal" and not just a robbery. Why in the ???? would you leave three houses unattended when you were out of the country? They should have had someone watch them. On the other hand there was a relative living close enough to see everything being carted off so......

Wouldn't doubt it if the relative was involved.

My mate got robbed many years ago in Sattahip. He was away for a couple of weeks and when he returned he found his house burgled. The neighbours who knew he was away said they'd "heard noises" but "didn't do anything"

I prefer my condo life, a view and zero noisy and nosy neighbors. Can leave  my place for months and nothing ever happens. When I want to go to the beach anytime I just do.

Fair enuff but living in a fish-bowl 36 k's in the sky isn't for all.

Story sounds fishy. Wife possibly involved?????????

"In your face wealthy"? Aren't you making massive assumptions? And if everybody's that poor, who's going to rent them? And sacking/letting go the maid? Where does it say that? Owning and maintaining property in Thailand is hard work. Finding someone you can trust is the number one problem.

But overall, there is scant background information on this, so as usual, just to make matters worse, Messrs Guess it and Speculate, online detective agents, are hard at work, condemning and blaming. It's all the victim's fault.

Me thinks the maid knows something more than the location of 3 targetted houses.

Sounds like  an inside job, I'd be suspicious of the missus. And the relative  seen this and said nothing ....

geeeze  !    TIT ....  thief's aplenty.

Maid involved? Relatives see coming and going and do nothing?

family or neighbors - start there

Yeah, it's always the victim's fault.

Blame the victim for working hard, saving and acquiring nice things. How dare he.

He will be even more shocked when he finds out one day that he doesn't own the houses. ????

Most foreigners I know use company on Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. And most expats have good wifes, even you would believe something else after joining this forum a year or two.

Why all the damage to the properties ??? Like most readers on this thread I am very suspicious of the victims not knowing what took place.  I doubt very much that the Thai wife and her relative don't know whar happened. The jungle network works very well in a small village. Hmmmm ... no mention of a property insurance claim ... ????

Where are the videos of all his security cameras?

Or didn't he have any cameras?

Obviously it would be nice if nobody gets robbed. But leaving houses for months alone sounds like a bad idea.

  • Popular Post

Doesn’t look like he uses the mountain bike anyway ,

Hope they catch all involved, pretty <deleted>ty when that happens

When you have stand alone house and property in Thailand, you make sure someone looking after it (Living there) and also have surveillance system equipped. So in one way it is his fault it happens.

Better still, live a simple life without consumer goods and 'bling'.  If robbers entered my home they would probably leave me some cash!

Quite common her where no one wants to get involved in one or the other way.
