Popular Post webfact Posted January 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 10, 2023 Altogether 540 motorists and motorcyclists had driving license points deducted on the first day of the enforcement of the points system yesterday (Monday), said the spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, Pol Maj-Gen Archayon Kraithong today. The most common violations were failure to display a valid annual road tax sticker (233), not displaying license plates (81) and speeding (63). Details of other violations are not available. He said that police have been ordered to enforce the system strictly, to promote discipline among motorists and motorcyclists and to reduce road accidents, loss of life and damage to property. Popular Post Shop mak Posted January 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 10, 2023 The point system are pointless, many drive without a DL already. This will not change much, just more on the roads, without a DL. The system could work, if vehicle was impounded and sold. 6
Popular Post scubascuba3 Posted January 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 10, 2023 As article says it needs strict enforcement incl those with no licence otherwise it's a waste of time 2 2
Popular Post Pique Dard Posted January 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 10, 2023 the non-respect for the red light and the right of way are (among) the common violations, if you ask me 3

sammieuk1 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Were there any rich ones unable/unwilling to inflate a bag my guess is that made up the majority of the other missing violations ???? 1 1
Popular Post HappyExpat57 Posted January 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 10, 2023 Until there's proper driver's education, this is senseless. Besides, you are messing with the BiB's personal cookie jar, so it's doomed from the start. 6
Foghorn Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Should be online ,name and pictures ,if not no good here , run out of points and no license or change name
Popular Post itsari Posted January 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 10, 2023 The first two violations quoted in the post will do absolutely nothing in making Thai roads safer. 3
jacko45k Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Can't say I saw much policing on the roads of Pattaya yesterday and I was out in the truck....must all be happening Bangkok way?
Aussieroaming Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 What a joke. I could stand in front of my condo after breakfast and spot more than 540 violations by the end of the day. Non compliance to road rules here is the norm. Just another layer of RTP BS to watch being abused by the brown shirts for their personal gain. 2
Popular Post Orinoco Posted January 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 10, 2023 Just more stupid nonsense for the police and government to hide behind. They both care nothing about the way there citizens or themselves, behave on the roads, A total failure. 5
ezzra Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 This 'new system' means nothing, there're hundreds of thousands who drives with suspended, canceled or no licenses at all... 2

Sitting at a red traffic light this morning and watched as almost every motorcycle go through and merge with other traffic because they couldn't wait 30 seconds for the lights to change to green. No CCTV and NO police, so how are they going to stop what Thais do best... ignore road rules? 5
Popular Post ChrisY1 Posted January 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 11, 2023 Run out of points....no licence...no problem! 2 1
Popular Post Gsxrnz Posted January 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 11, 2023 Do the math. In a country of some 67 million, only 63 speeding traffic stops were made in a day. This assumes that all those stopped were ticketed and had a point removed. Talk about urinating into the wind! 2 2
Hornell Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Website all in Thai. Mobile app asks for lots of info including Thai ID number. Farangs once again ignored.
Popular Post ChrisKC Posted January 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 11, 2023 Shouldn't that figure of 540, be 540,000 (and even this figure should really have another zero added to it) if there is actual enforcement going on? 2 2
Henryford Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 So no running red lights, i see about 10 a day

Reverse TAT calculator. This one removes a couple of 00's.????????
arfandy Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 What about those holders of International Driving License? Do they get point deduction like Thais or...do they get DOUBLE points deduction for every mistake that could cost 1 pts for Thai? I'm confused here as how this work, considering the infamous DOUBLE-STANDARD is mostly applied to foreigners in Thailand. 1
Mr Meeseeks Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Window dressing only. It's far beyond their ability to do anything meaningful or worthwhile. 2

JoePai Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Just read this in a UK newspaper - this is what should happen here (and worldwide) ****** was said to have no regular income from acting and to be receiving universal credit. She said that she needed her car to take her son to school every day. However, the magistrates banned her from driving for 20 months and fined her £120 with £85 costs and a victim surcharge of £48. She agreed to undertake a drink-driving awareness course that would reduce her driving ban by 20 weeks. 1

I can mention some things which would have effect: drivers license Overloads on any car just implanted rule about safety belts, pickups are still loaded with people in back with no safety belts. Drunk driving Cars with no lights working or almost broken down totally, so ignoring annual safety tests. Phone holding in car. Motor bikes: There can only be 2 persons tops on bike. Now you see even bikes with babies squeezed in. Those persons wear helmets Lights and all are working proper. Here there are motor bikes, modified sidecars with some springs, to carry wood or palm. There are some of them carrying 700 kg of wood on that motor bike side car, besides then people. Phone holding Driving in wrong direction, on walk ways The list is endless when it comes to real safety. But then you of course start with the most stupid things, like tax paying. . 4 1
Popular Post Scouse123 Posted January 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 11, 2023 This nonsense, for all the pomp and ceremony, will last about as long as a British Prime minister. 3 2
Popular Post Purdey Posted January 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 11, 2023 I was going to mention the idea of raising the cost of fines (100k for drink driving), but just read that road incidents cost Americans $340 billion — or $1,035 per person — in 2019 (The $340 billion figure represented 1.6 percent of America's GDP that year). This kind of implies that people don't mind fines that they can afford. Or pay tea money in the Thai case to avoid fines. Points deduction don't actually frighten people into obeying the law but rather tell them they can get away with stuff until all the points are gone, then carry on as usual. 3
