From other posts of yours it seems you're heavily into fitness, for you to die in your sleep would be considered unsuspicious?

Really?

Hearth attack is if not common for his type of fitness, but it happens.

The world average age of death is a few years lower at 69.8 years for men and 74.9 years for women. Within the European Union, these are 77.8 and 83.3 years respectively.

  • It's common for an autopsy to be done on all victims of unexpected deaths.

  • Why this island is still so popular with tourists is bewildering....so many deaths...never any prosecutions and seemingly all gets brushed under the rug. Meanwhile, the government says nothing...

  • If you've gone through the PADI or BSAC courses to become a certified Dive Instructor chances are you are fit and healthy.

Yes, im heavy into fitness. though a bit less now because of an injury. But seriously without yearly in dept health checks you dont know anything. I might look healthy but i could have some underlying problems. Its not uncommon for people to have undiscovered health problems.

My point is more i do some blood tests but no in dept heart tests and other stuff. I might have something underlying I dont know. But that is more likely then for me to be murdered and found without any signs of violence in my bed.

If i had to bet chances of it being natural would be far higher then someone to poison me and put me in my bed and make it look like natural causes.

Yes there is but his friend told he was found in his underwear and a blanket on a sofa

the point being - who told his friend these details, sorry but I just do not trust anything from this place

Paramedics said so. So unless the paramedics are in on it too then its a fact. But if you dont even believe this then not read the newspaper because you dont trust anything.

How do we know he was fit and healthy ? Just because its said.. who knows. So much speculation.

He was a dive instructor.

When I was a dive instructor I had to pass a HSE 'fitness to dive' health exam every year.

As far as I know (but I dont know everything) Padi and almost everyone is Padi in Thailand does not ask that of its dive instructors.

So he might not even had to do that.

Reason why I am so convinced that people just die is my uncle. He was a runner (never drank alcohol) and he was under 50 when he died. Just all of sudden he was dead. Never had health problems. It was something with his heart. But no indications before and he was a marine and a paramedic. So not just someone. But still he died and it was natural but nobody expected it.

Maybe that made me look at things different.

I read several places when a foreigner dies outside hospital, they are sent to Bangkok for autopsy, and some embassies requires it like Austrian and Germany.

It is up to family to require it if not, and they bear the cost!

Us embassy

In order to determine the cause of death, the medical examiner on the scene may recommend an autopsy when a U.S. citizen dies outside of a hospital setting.

I think I might build a death island website.

He looks old for 48, did they get his age wrong in the report?

Fit healthy 48 year olds, really?

yes, that happens - genetic heart issues that go undetected till they die is a common cause

  • Popular Post

At 34 yes old I very nearly died.

Very fit & relatively healthy…  I had a  pulmonary embolism which very nearly killed he.

Fit people do die… just look at Erickson (Danish footballer).

But any unexplained death needs to be investigated.

Understandably there is suspicion, who would be suspicious given the history of unexplained / poorly investigated deaths on this island.

British tabloids, i mean all the other deaths have nothing to do with this but are mentioned for the story. People die in their sleep its not strange thing. I don't expect an autopsy if i die in my sleep and there is no sign of violence.

This sounds a lot like a storm a teacup.

Thai law states that, if a person is found dead in the home, an autopsy must be carried out to find out why, and foe, the person died. This must be done in Thai law, especially if death occurred suddenly at home.

I did mine many many years ago and was fitter than I am now so not sure that would count.

You're right. But we all know that whenever a farang dies in Thailand the conspiracy theorists come out of the woodwork. As you say, it's perfectly possible and most likely that this guy died of natural causes, RIP.

Some years ago the Australian authorities reported that more Australians die in Thailand every year than in any other foreign country.  (Common causes of their deaths being drowning, riding motorbikes, illict drugs).

Since Hannah and David, Koh Tao certainly hit the headlines.
Death-island, Mafia, Conspiracy Theories etc... Sure.
I'd stay away from the island that's for sure.
For others: Coincidence? Maybe...

I used to spend months at a time  on the island between 1997-2001 and is was absolutely beautiful.

Stopped going when it started get more crowded and only just went back last year for a few days.

Really sad how it has changed !

I took my son to shark bay which is difficult to get to now and all the coral is dead and sharks have disappeared.

The main areas have become an eyesore.

Sadly if this poor man had died anywhere else in Thailand it probably would not have made the news but as this is the notorious Koh Tao it is questionable.

Rip .

Yes,but working in Thailand as diving instructor is not to healthy.I have a friend he used to be diving instructor in Pattaya and opened a diving school there. After beaten up a few times by some thai guys he closed his diving school  and left Thailand

Unfortunately when you choose to live or travel to another country.  The authorities don’t investigate or see things as you would expect in your home country.
From the description.  It does appear like he fell asleep and passed away.  Or if it was foul play.  Someone bothered to make it look that he fell asleep on the couch.  Like in a Lieutenant Columbo movie.  I doubt it. Only a full investigation and an autopsy would be definitive on the cause of death.  He might have even ingested something.  But as I said.  Different countries have different ways of handling things.
And just because a person is athletic, child, teen, not that old.  Doesn’t mean they just can’t die in their sleep. They might have an underlying condition that they are unaware of.  Or things just happen to the human body suddenly.

There is no secret here. And the solution to this problem is relatively simple, but will never, ever happen. Arrest the serial killer. Many know who the guilty family is. But, the problem is they are above the law. Any and all laws, including the army. This administration was created, to protect the elite, the wealthy, the connected, and those in power, despite proclamations to the contrary. So, the headman's son could not be arrested, even though the police, and many others knew who was guilty. Those poor Burmese chaps were framed, so this worm could roam free. And what does he do? He continues with his hobby of killing foreign women. If his father, the headman, had the slightest bit of intelligence, or control over his wayward son, he would ask him to behave himself, or at the very least to ply his trade elsewhere. Instead, he stays at home, and continues to inflict terror on Dark Tao. This family is fabulously wealthy, due to decades of illegal land sales. Therefore, they are untouchable. Even when it comes to murder, and mayhem. Totally above the law.

I have a friend who went to the Koh Samui prison on multiple locations to see the Burmese guys, and became friends with them. He said they were the sweetest guys you could ever meet, you could just look into eyes and see they were completely innocent, they told him on multiple occasions that they were nowhere near the place that it actually happened and that the nearly everyone on the island knew that it was the Nomad, the son of the head man of Sairee beach who is a serial killer, but his father was so wealthy from ill-gotten wealth from illegal property sales. Dark Tao is a very dangerous place.

So, as he was completely above any and all laws, they had to frame someone.

Do yourself a favor and never visit this island of plague, death, and horror. I have sworn it off, after having visited it at least five or six times in the past. I will never return. I do not want to support the five criminal families, who run this island. This place is as dark as anyplace in SE Asia. Avoid it. Deny it. Stay away, for your own good.

There Is a facebook group where they are trying to get the 2 Burmese released but it doesn't look good even with new found evidence.

I feel the family is so well protected even though everyone knows who it is ,

Nothing is going to change.

That's why an autopsy is performed ... apart from establishing  the cause of death it adds data to the medical knowledge base. Common sense to do one.

We don't know, it's just what somebody said. Fit and healthy young football players can suffer from instant heart attack out of the blue and die, if it wasn't for some others that gave first aid resuscitation help...:whistling:
