Is there a statute of limitations on his crime against the Thai people?

It wouldn't matter either way, he has already been charged, convicted and sentenced and is on the run.  SOL is irrelevant.

I don't know what is end game is. But his constant attitude is that he hates it to be ignored. Now people talk about Move Forward and not about him. That is obviously something he can't accept.

Let's destabalise the political situation even further. Makes me wonder what his end game is. Say what you will but he's no fool in the game of politics.

That would obviously be smart.   But imagine if you would love that people recognize you everywhere. And that some of them treat you like the messiah. And you know you just deserve to be tre

No, he could not be denied entry, he is a Thai citizen!

Now,where is Red bull gentleman, funny nobody knows where he is? Perhaps the government should offer a large reward for him, we welcome his return to serve time too.

"...where is Red bull gentleman, funny nobody knows where he is?"

Having knowledge of his whereabouts doesn't help the Thai authorities if he's overseas and out of their jurisdiction.

"...the government should offer a large reward..."

Why?  What would a reward be offered for, kidnapping him and illegally bringing him to Thailand?

"...we welcome his return to serve time too".

He's appeared in court, been found guilty and sentenced to prison?  When did that happen?

if you mean you are not aware of any crimes he did i suggest you spend the weekend reading up on it.

Serious question - Is there no statute of limitations on his "crimes"?

Serious answer, it's irrelevant...he's already been convicted and sentenced.

"Boss" seems to have got away with most of his sentences due to the statute of limitations - why not Thaksin?

What has Vorayuth been sentenced to?   Has he even been to trial yet?

Add me to that list.

Hope he goes to jail, if he dare set foot back here.

I would rather see the present unelected caretaker PM in jail rather than Thaksin even for only one reason.

Thaksin was elected.

Unsurprisingly, yours is a very common response from the Thaksin obsessives here. Why is it so hard for you guys to simply state the crimes that you believe Thaksin committed? Do you object to Thaksin receiving a fair trial as Pita has stated MF supports? The fact is, Thaksin, whilst no saint, is far far cleaner than those who corrupted the judiciary and dismantled democracy to push him out of politics because they could not beat him.

List Thaksin’s 3 greatest crimes… can you?

In answering a question, Pita said former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has the right to return to Thailand from his exile and given a fair legal trial.

The right to return from exile and a fair trial refers to crimes he hasn't been in court for yet; he's already been convicted on other charges for which he has had received a prison sentence

Wrong.
Move Forward’s position is as stated:

“The criminal charges against Khun Thaksin [were laid] under the military government…We are proposing to…get him back. “Reopen the cases against him, and the judge has to be neutral…he has the right to a free and fair trial. And if the judgement [goes] against him, he has to accept it.

I seem to recall that his passport was taken away and he travels on passports of other countries, so, on arrival if allowed in he would only be given a tourist visa valid for a short stay, plus he may require an entry visa which might have to be issused from an embassy. and as a person on the run, should not be issused. so, he could be reused entry. but, if he arrives he should be arrested and taken directly to prison. still he Best option would be to arrange for his grandchildren to join him in another country. Interesting to see what will happen. Now,where is Red bull gentleman, funny nobody knows where he is? he could get an elite visa

Wrong.

You're wrong, my post was accurate, he has already been convicted and sentenced.    Any future proposals are just speculation.

Er...he's Thai, he doesn't need a visa to be in Thailand!

He made it very clear what his “endgame” was - to come home and spend time with his grandchildren and leave politics to the new, younger generation.

No Jim, if he comes back, he'll say that statement was " an honest mistake". His ego is far too large to be content with playing Lego or Snakes and Ladders, though his party has many cobras who jump parties at the drop of a hat.

On the other hand does he really think he can walk into Thailand as a free man?

Why not? He was convicted under a government and the agencies that committed an illegal coup. If the coup was illegal then every law and ruling stemming from that coup is illegal as well.

Or do you believe there should be no punishment for actions resulting in a coup?

Nah.

I would be in favor of a full house,  lets have both.

My recollection (I was here and watching this closely) he was charged under civil law for several civil offences which don't a have connection to the illegal coup. For several cases the evidence was made public years back and showed he was quilty.

On one charge several senior banking officials (they were still in Thailand when the court ruled) did serious jail time, for illegal loans to another country. The paymaster was also convicted in this case and received a jail setence in absentia.

Your recollection is wrong.

Also, a “senior banking official” who approved the Ratchapisek land sale to Thaksin’s wife went on to be Finance Minister under Prayuth.

Are you opposed to a fair trial under a neutral judge as proposed by MF?

I get the feeling that it’s all tears from here on for the junta loving Thaksin obsessives….July is only a month away - you should probably start stocking up on some Kleenex.

Having read all the comments I am alarmed by the hatred towards this guy from foreigners/ex pats I arrived in Thailand when he was PM had he remained in that post we might have been witnessing a Thailand that had gone forward rather than backwards it’s time for the old guard to accept the people’s choice of government.

No hatred from me, I quite like the guy actually. ????

I do not object to a fare trial for any one.It does not really matter how clean or dirty any one else is,that is not the topic.

I can come up with more then three but let us start with this one.

At least 80 Muslim people in the South died when Thaksin was in power.

That is a crime i think?

Seriously, you think that he hasn't already been convicted and sentenced?   Geez...   And that future proposals by any incoming government are not just speculation at this stage?

Leave it, you will get frustrated.

Mr NoJo is probably the most delusional poster at the moment.

Thaksin let the army take the rap for that though I don't remember any serious demotions or punishments.

The youths were stacked one or top of each other like logs, with their hands behind their backs.

They suffocated on the drive to the camp.

Thaksin, of course, had to make a crass comment: ' They were weak from fasting at Ramadan, that hastened their demise.'

The same when Somchai ( I forget his surname) a prominent human rights lawyer and a muslim in the Deep South, went missing, abducted in broad daylight on Ramkhamhaeng road..

Thaksin remarked, ' He probably had an argument with his wife and wanted to get away for a while.'

Somchai's body has never been found.

Thaksin, arrogant and uncaring. Still the same

Will he be bringing the Red Bull scion with him as an olive branch?
