In a recent move by the Thai government, entrance fees for foreign visitors at historical landmarks have been raised.

This amendment affects both registered historical locations and 72 national museums across the country. However, the fees for Thai nationals will remain consistent with the rates set in 2008.

A breakdown of the new rates is as follows:

Historical Parks:

Thai Nationals: 20 baht per person

Foreign Visitors: 120-200 baht (up from 100 baht)

Archeological Sites:

Thai Nationals: 10-20 baht per person
Foreign Visitors: 80-120 baht (up from 50-100 baht)

Regarding national museums:

Small Museums:

Thai Nationals: 10 baht per person
Foreign Visitors: 80 baht (up from 50 baht)

Medium Museums:

Thai Nationals: 10-20 baht per person
Foreign Visitors: 120 baht (up from 50-100 baht)

Large Museums:

Thai Nationals: 20-30 baht per person
Foreign Visitors: 200 baht (up from 100-150 baht)

Furthermore, the government has scrapped the foreign language audio guide fees at four particular sites: Historical Park – Sdok Kok Thanom in Sakaeo, Wat Kudi Dao in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Nakhon Nayok National Museum in Nakhon Nayok, and Surin National Museum in Surin.

Tipanan Sirichana, the government spokesperson, emphasized that the unchanged fees for Thai nationals aim to support education, preserve cultural heritage, and bolster national identity without adding tourism-related financial pressures on the Thai populace, reported Khaosod.

Let them adjust the prices as much as they like. Won't be going in one again until the rip off ends.

Last time I visited a national park was in Chiang Dao.

The ranger at the entrance asked me for 400thb.

I said no (because I knew it was only 200thb for white people)

He said no problem, for you it's only 200thb.

Lol

Price was something like 20 or 40thb for locals...

Trail was pretty average and extremely dirty (plastic everywhere).

A few decent viewpoints at the top but that's about it.

I'm done with Thailand's racist policies and lack of added value.

Why should I finance their national identity bolstering BS when in return they won't even clean their parks properly?

Never again. Trails are much better in Laos anyways.

Too bad Pita Charoenanatikhornwhatever couldn't make it to the top.

He might have had better ideas.

You know the kind that wouldn't damage the tourism industry even further.

they go there to take selfies and do stupid poses!!...they don't care about their own heritage.

And actually you "goverment" don't want the people to be educated...you need them to be dumb so is easy for you to manipulate....

I just love it every time we enter a National Park and I am singled out in front of my family and told to pay 5 or 10 times more. Makes me feel so welcome.

What a lovely endearing action to help promote tourism......please hurry and start taking the 300 baht airport tourism arrival  tax too!

And they are hoping to get 40 million tourists this year? Sure increase the prices, make a two tiered system and tourists will flock to the country. They cant seem to understand the basics.

Tourist are being welcomed...... entrance fee of Thailand 300 THB exit fee 1000 THB as they try do sooner or later for the benefit of tourism.. and than they scam the tourists at the attractions again with 10 times higher fee than locals... next year millions will come when they see and hear this scam..

It's waterfalls and hot springs that get me most.

Recently I went to a hot spring in Chiang Mai area. Apart from hot smelly water there was no beauty to this site.

I refused to pay, and we went off to a 'free' waterfall for a nice lunch.

I might 'adjust' the amount of tax I pay to these benighted simians.

I used to live in Orlando FL near Disney World.

I got drastically reduced rates for season tickets because I lived in the area.

Was that fair or racist?

  • Popular Post

That´s good news! I always thought I wasn´t paying enough.

I´m truly happy that racism is now at the heart of pricing.

Thailand is leading the world in scams and rip offs.

Tourists pay a lot of money to come to Thailand for a holiday so paying to see historical sites won't put them off

If you reside in Thailand you have the option of  paying or not up to you ????

  • Popular Post

Still cheap but I understand the sentiment.

I have heard if you show a Thai driving license that can reduce the cost ?

True or urban myth?

For the last 8+ years the government hasn’t been able to get  much of anything accomplished, but now… now that there is no actual government they pass an outrageous increase in foreign tourists fees? This they get done while there is no sitting government? What a farce

I'm so glad to see my White Privilege bringing me so many benefits while I continue to oppress the poor locals, lol.

So in this country the land of smiles is so racist it makes me sick to live here, I think that the rest of the world needs to double and triple to costs of Thai people entering all sorts of sites,, why not they like to screw the Farang so pay backs are a bitch

I also live in the area, pay tax, have kids here, and still have to pay more than my wife.
