The Phuket Tourist Police told the Phuket Express that on Thursday (October 4th) an unidentified male British tourist asked the Phuket Tourist Assistance Center in the Phuket International Airport for help. He said he couldn’t remember the name of the hotel where he stayed or the location and had a memory lapse so had gone to the airport to ask for assistance.

He tried to explain roughly what the hotel looked like and its distance from the airport. The Phuket Tourist Police finally identified the hotel which is near to the airport. They then contacted the hotel and the hotel staff told police that the British man indeed stayed at the hotel with his wife and he had got lost after midnight of the same day. The exact circumstances around him going missing and forgetting where he stayed, however, were not clear.

The British man was taken back to the hotel, whose name was withheld, and said thank you to the Phuket Tourist Police and the Phuket Tourist Assistance Center.

let me guess the exact circumstances .......   he went straight to a bar and got sloshed over hours of drinking and after that he forgot where he was staying.

is that close enough to what happened .....

In a rather unusual turn of events in Phuket, a British tourist suffering from amnesia found himself lost and unable to recall the name or location of his hotel in Thalang. This unexpected predicament led him to seek the aid of the Phuket Tourist Police and the Phuket Tourist Assistance Centre at Phuket International Airport.

The incident unfolded today, October 5, when the British man, whose identity has been kept confidential, approached the Phuket Tourist Assistance Centre. The British tourist recounted his situation, explaining that he experienced a memory lapse and was unable to remember crucial details about his hotel, including its name and location. This lack of recollection prompted him to head to the airport and ask for assistance.

Trying to provide as much information as possible, the British tourist described the hotel’s appearance and approximated its distance from the airport. With the sparse details he provided, the Phuket Tourist Police managed to identify the hotel conveniently located near the airport.

How did he end up going that far without realizing hey I know it’s not like 8 or 15 hours away.

Amazing what makes news sometimes. I have encountered a few people who have forgotten where they are staying and on more than one occasion have helped them. I partiicularly remember one man who left his luggage as he was too early to check in and was walking around in the Phuket heat wearing an overcoat! No idea how we found his hotel but somehow we dod.

He had a “short time” memory loss… hope he freshened a bit after… 555

At least he didn’t get all ‘confused’ about who won the election.

"Stayed in the hotel with his wife". No phone? Why not contact her through email, Facebook, Line, Whatsapp, etc. Typical modern-day nanny state Brit. Playing the victim and rushing to the state for government assistance.

Maybe he is not a phone addict, and does not use the gossip channels. He obviously is just there to relax.

Are you a journalist, a policeman or a psychologist??? ????

One of the first things you do when traveling, get a card from your hotel when you check-in. Especially when you don't speak the language.

Talk about getting your brains f##ked out.

   Sorry couldn't resist.

On a more serious note I can  remember having a small dose of E slipped into my drink in Ban Tak 4 years ago. I could drive like stink but couldn't remember any basic banking information.

Later a decent Thai bar owner in Chiang Mai warned me that a common ruse is for women of a certain occupation to put similar compounds on their nipples to further otherwise nefarious results.

Gotta love this place. Kwai beware. 555

I bet he had a fun time

I carry a copy of my hotel reservation on my phone in case there's a problem at check-in. Useful too, apparently, for finding the hotel later if I get lost. Actually, I'm sure that there are many that have done so. Just doesn't make the news.

Possibly with a bar girl and the memory lapse was a good excuse for the missus.

See what smoking that Mary juana will do to you ????

Lucky for him he ran into the RTP and not the KGB on this occasion ????

Hmmmm…. drunk or stoned?

This is merely the creative construction of an alibi by a quick-thinking fella. Now he has a great story for the wife with police corroboration instead of a short arm inspection and a divorce.
