Based on a true story. How often I watch something, then half way though realize I have seen it before, my short term memory is buggered 2 2

StayinThailand2much Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I'm not much into animated series, but "Krapopolis" (Fox) is not unfunny. Re-watched "Uprising" (2001) yesterday; always moving, plus half the cast of "Friends" is in it. 1

gargamon Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Watched The Creator last night. About a 7 and definitely watchable. Ignore all the “woke“ complaints in the 2023 thread. It's a typical sci-fi movie in the old way like pre-marvel ones. 1 1

I guess it would be of special interest to Giddyup....or any other Oz that lived in Brisbane in that era. One of the most corrupt police forces ever (I am saying that while I live in Thailand) I read the book some time back---Sort of True story. People like Slim Halliday (played by Bryan Brown) was an escape artist from Bogga rd Prison. Some of the other character's...a bit of a stretch. Netflix wanted to shoot this in LA, but in the end it was done locally around Brisbane. Its upset a few locals of that time....

Could you demonstrate which type of video file is capable of carrying a virus? I download files via torrent because I value my 1) privacy and the 2) quality - the illegal streaming services that are mentioned here are loaded with trackers. Nothing in this world is free, servers and bandwidth cost money - you are not watching the same file as those who download, its reencoded to use less bandwidth - if you are happy to log onto these services (a lot are run by Russian or Chinese organizations) then that's great, if you want a lower quality picture or sound, then no problem but for me, there are the reasons. I like having the choice of audio and video quality, I dont know anything about steamio / deadbrid / koi plug-in / etc .. the files are the same files as downloaded on torrent, they just use the community bandwidth to stream, it seems a great way to view, but doesnt really contribute to a community. 1 5
jacnl2000 Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 1923, first season, consisting of multiple parallel running storylines. Look forward to the second season which most likely fills in the missing second half of the first season. 2

Is demonstrating "which type of video is capable of carrying a virus' necessary to suggest that downloading any file is potentially risky? When you stream a video, you’re watching it directly from the source over the internet without saving a copy of it on your device. On the other hand, downloading involves saving a copy of the video or in fact it could be anything, onto your device, which could potentially include or be malicious software. I suggest, no method is completely safe, and caution should always be exercised when streaming or downloading content online. 1 3

But by default only a media player will open, or try to open, a file with video filename extension; and that's the only file you click on. The file may on your Android box anyway. No, you don't click on a random .exe file you've downloaded. Windows Defender offers real time file scanning. If in doubt you can also scan with something like Malwarebytes. Finally, the torrent sites often have "trusted uploaders" or comments from previous downloaders. In short, not an issue, as our veteran video downloaders here can affirm. 2 2 4
LosLobo Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Reacher (TV Series 2022– )- IMDb 8.1 Series 2 is a disappointment, don't know if I will continue with it. These just dropped: True Detective (TV Series 2014– ) - IMDb 8.9 S04E01 Monsieur Spade (TV Series 2024– ) - IMDb 7.3 S01E01 May be interesting stars Clive Owen. 1 1
giddyup Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Was looking forward to a new season (4) of True Detective, but episode one was as dull as dishwater, gave up half way. Likewise Monsieur Spade with Clive Owen.

I dunno. Season 2 started slow and I gave up on it too quickly. It has many detractors. A few years later, I gave it another shot and decided it was really pretty good. Characters had some reality and depth (relatively), weren't just grotesques; atmospheric & stylish; good acting and interaction/tension between the characters. Rachel McAdams, ah. I've thought about watching it again.

I class True Detective in the same way as Fargo, which was superb until season 4 but then redeemed itself with season 5 . All imho of course. 1 1
xylophone Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 I had downloaded a movie called, "Leave The world Behind" a while back and finally decided to watch it. Although there were some minor twists and turns in it, just enough to keep me interested, the ending was, IMO, pathetic! Have still not understood the ending and even going online to one of those websites which explains the endings of various movies, I got no satisfaction. 1
xylophone Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 I also watched "Napoleon" the other night and I thought it was very good, although it did skip certain sections of Napoleon's life, for example what happened to his second "child" wife and a few other aspects of his life/reign. All the same, I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone else who fancies watching it. Of course it is directed by Ridley Scott, so that should make a few avid movie watchers take note.
