As an outsider I see a stirring need for Trump to be taken to account on things he has done. There's many reasons I don't like Trump - over valuing properties to get bigger loans where they were all paid back  is at the lower end. I am playing devil's advocate to ask something - would have this and some other charges been pursued if it wasn't Trump. Not sure. 

I would personally focus criticism of Trump supporters on things like their acceptance of his support of dictators, trashing of democratic principles e.g. accepting outcome of elections etc etc. Though they should accept he did the wrong thing in this case I wouldn't consider it unreasonable for them to raise the issue of possible bias in the steps leading to todays findings. 

 

of course someone else wouldn't have been charged, look at Hillary and the emails, Bidens bragging 'quid pro quo'..on video...yet they indicted Trump instead!
it's all politically motivated, but people have such a hatred for him they cant see it, rather welcome it or anything else thrown at him. 
seems like anyone left or dem gets a pass, trump or republican not, the republicans seem weak in comparison, certainly are not a vicious, spiteful and underhanded as the Dems or 'tolerant' left.

The amount of bank and tax fraud he has likely committed, the amount of thievery, stealing, lying, cheating and foul play is likely to set all-time records. Beyond the robber barons.

 

This is a thrilling result and it is likely despite his claims of the contrary, that he does not have access to this this much money. There's no doubt he's living way beyond his means.

As for "no victim", when rates were less than what the risk would demand, banks earn less, which means shareholders earn less than they are entitled to, which means pensions/insurers/individual investors earn less than they are entitled.

 

The argument that "banks should do their own due diligence" is spurious. People SIGN loan applications attesting to their veracity. If banks shouldn't need to rely on what loan applicants submit, why even bother to have loan applications?

 

Laws exist. trump either doesn't like laws or believes he's entitled to be above them. Sorry, the US has a Constitution that makes all equal UNDER the law, so....

 

---No one can engage in bank and insurance fraud by lying about asset values and sign off attesting that the lies are true

Based on the record of similar crimes being prosecuted in the past, I wouldn't say Trump had been singled out for special attention at all. As the article below mentions, there have been dozens of similar cases in recent years.
