Certainly he has property assets, such as buildings and golf courses. However, it's not known how many of these are encumbered with mortgages.

 

They are also illiquid, selling them would take months or years, unless the process was sped up by a fire sale.

 

Apparently Trump has told all his lawyers the maximum they will get paid is $750/hr. That's possibly a sign of being cash-strapped.

 

It's also not conducive to getting the best legal representation, but that deficiency in quality was obvious already.

 

 

The ruling is unfair. Trump should be in jailed as he guilty of financial fraud and perjury like Bernie Madoff.

I'd hazard a guess that the IRS may well file charges for tax evasion against Trump personally after this. The civil trial went after his company because Trump essentially laid the blame at his accountants' feet but the evidence now points to direct involvement by Trump himself.

Yes. Nothing in a civil trial prevents a subsequent criminal trial. In this case it has now been established that Trump personally directed the fraud so It would be surprising that criminal charges aren't in the pipeline. IRS funding for such investigations has been nobbled by the GOP to protect billionaires from tax fraud investigations. This case will be hard for the IRS to ignore.
