Within the ASEAN Now community (or back when it was then known as Thai Visa) there were a couple of BKK gatherings but that was going back about 14 years ago (with no official gatherings in more recent years that I'm aware of).

Back then they were held in the Huntsman Pub in the Landmark Hotel basement, and roughly about 20 or so members participated.

Outside of the ASEAN Now community there are many and they occur frequently (including business group like chambers of commerce, and FB/Twitter groups etc).

This isn't about the Bangkok area but Isaan, especially in the eastern area.I have a few friends in the 6 years I've been living in Sisaket province. All seem to be pretty friendly, but only a couple are like minded and share common interests. I'm not a bar person, having gone only a couple of times since moving here, mostly to meet for a party, so I don't get to meet with them a lot unless a couple at their homes. It's nice to talk with those from other countries, as some of Europe is still on my bucket list, and those from back home in the US, as we can relate, especially if they are hunters or fishermen. I'm the only farang in my village, and only a couple can speak any English at all, so there's not much relating here. I'm all for meeting up with any that are friendly as I've seen some that seem to avoid farangs like the plague, and one was dragged away from me when we started to speak in  Tesco once. Probably thought I would give him some advice that might endanger her milking him.

Hear, hear!...and who in their right mind would want to "meet up for a coffee" with complete strangers - men, at that?!

I don't have any good experience with "big" groups of people. Like here in the forum, some would want to shine and control what is happening.

The nice thing about this and other forums is that we can easily select what we want to see, and which comments we want to read.

In real life it is not so easy to press that ignore button. 😉

Just drop in...sit down next to me and start up a conversation.

This applies only to bars however...do not disturb my morning coffee please.

Wasn't it established that "she" was an Aussie bloke?

Actually pure speculation on everyboby's part..no one ever really knew the sex or nationality of Yinn.

So good to have a mystery sometimes.

No, that was Transams fantasy, she was a real Thai. Claimed he found her out on the Thaiger when he was a mod, where all his posts have been deleted😁

People who knew her did.

There was this recent Phuket thread.

Not too many interested.

I made a comment below.....

Heavy security would be required, From what I read on these forums most of the guys are quite rude and hostile on the keyboard, lots of warriors.     I'm sure there'd be some casualties at a meeting. ⛑️

I've been to group meetups with people who live in Bangkok and are in my Twitter network.  Nice to meet people IRL and put a face to their name.

I've also been to meetups for crypto with people I've met online.

2 weeks ago there was a very large Crypto meetup, it was the 10th year anniversary of a group that meets every Monday to discuss crypto (and of course chat every day on their telegram).

I think perhaps the oldies on here have forgotten how to be social

There are a few people on here who I think it might be ok to meet; and a few who I doubt I'd want to spend even 1 min in the proximity of.

Likely many of us met each other somewhere without knowing that we all post in this forum.

People who aren't anti social and like having male friends perhaps, with like interests to talk about, while living in a country known for being among the most boring places on earth, at least away from the beach areas.

That is very possible.   But I've never seen your face assuming your Avatar is actually you 😉
