The Navy has relocated HTMS Chonburi out to sea, from the naval base in Chon Buri province, after a jammed artillery shell was accidentally discharged into HTMS Khirirat, which was docked nearby.

The accident caused a fire on HTMS Khirirat and injured 14 sailors.

The navy’s commander-in-chief, Admiral Adoong Pan-iam, explained that the relocation of HTMS Chonburi is a preventive measure, to avoid a repeat of the accident, adding “The ship will be thoroughly checked for any more jammed artillery shells or other faults.”

Has the navy’s commander-in-chief, Admiral Adoong Pan-iam lost his job yet? I think this would be expected in most nations that were not absolutely dominated by their rather pathetic armed forces.

Probably more prudent keeping it away from anything else in the firing line.

How about pointing all guns out to sea.........:coffee1:

In-experience.

Expect a cover-up regarding the extent of the injuries suffered by the sailors who were caught in the firing line.

Moored out to sea? That is where it should have been after the gun problem. Not sailed back into port to point at another vessel. My brain hurts.

They were hitting it with a hammer to try to unjam it?

Why do I find myself believing this?

I do hope it is moored with the guns pointing out to sea!

The magical " Navy Lark " from the sixties comes back to real life in the Twenties

Should it not be the ship which fired the jammed shell out at sea and not the recipient of such?

Admiral to HTMS Chonburi: "You're grounded. And no TikTok for two weeks!"

The Thai way, hit with a bloody big hammer  :w00t:

Maybe time to clean up yet another hive of money wasting if not money destruction. The aircraft carrier was a total waste of money, now they start nuking their own boats and I just hope, it does not culminate in a battle where the new submarines without engines start launching torpedoes against each other.
Yet another governmental part which should be closed, everyone sent home and the arsenal sold off as scrap metal. Latter revenues to be used for better education, social welfare of the underprivileged etc.

This is why perhaps the RTN is never involved in Thailand military coups.

Considering the warship HTMS Sukhothai that sunk due to high winds and strong waves, the HTMS Chonburi would be best moved to dry dock.

Can someone please explain from where this 'jammed shell' statement came? I did see any mention in the original reports.

Just as well the Thailand doesn't have nuclear missiles.

Here you go:

The following is in bold print below the picture in the OP.

Thanks. I must have been wearing the wrong spectacles.🙄

Minor correction.

HTMS Chonburi moored anchored at sea after accidental weapons discharge

Unless, of course, there was a mooring buoy handy.

Skipper is due for court martial tomorrow.
