The driver of a Ferrari miraculously escaped with no injuries after crashing into a canal off Prasert-Manukitch Road in Bangkok. The incident occurred around 10.37am today shortly after the luxury sports car had been taken for a test drive following repairs.

 

Emergency services, including police and volunteers from the Siam United Foundation, responded to the scene where the red Ferrari had veered off the road.

 

A red Ferrari veered off course and plunged into a canal. The accident happened near the Chocolate View restaurant on Prasert-Manukitch Road in the Khan Na Yao district. Authorities were quickly notified of the incident, and a team of emergency responders and volunteers from the Siam United Foundation were dispatched to the location.

Upon arrival, the responders found the supercar submerged in the canal, with its front window shattered and significant damage to its bodywork. Despite the severity of the accident, the driver managed to exit the vehicle safely and did not sustain any injuries. The car’s registration details were not immediately available at the scene.

A witness commented that it was a miracle that no one was hurt as bystanders looked on at the unusual sight of the high-performance vehicle in the waterway.

 

Initial findings suggested the Ferrari had been recently repaired at a local garage. It is believed that the driver was conducting a test drive to ensure the vehicle was in proper working order when the accident occurred. The loss of control that led to the crash may have been due to mechanical issues or other factors, which are now under investigation by the authorities, reported KhaoSod.

 

The police are conducting thorough inquiries to determine the exact cause of the accident. They are examining the vehicle for any mechanical failures that may have contributed to the incident and are interviewing the driver and witnesses to piece together the moments leading up to the crash.

I totally feels his pains, I too, not long ago, scratched my Mazda 2, didn't get over it for days...

So was it the mechanic taking it for a test drive that got too excited or the owner ?

Those top end super cars are extremely complicated and expensive to repair. The owner might not bother when he finds out how much it will cost to put things right now that it is banged up and has been submerged in water.

 

I watch a guy called Samcrac on you tube who buy right offs like these and tries to ' flip ' them ( repair and resell ) . Massive headache and not always possible as the electronic parts cost a fortune.

Oh, possible mechanical fault... How many times have we heard that one? 

 

Or maybe my foot 'slipped' off the brake and onto the accelerator. 

 

More like the car was a bit more powerful than the driver expected.  Tried to show off but lost control.

that will have everything needed.... or weld it back together and put the vin tags from the red one on it !

Ferraris are great cars. And on the right streets and with talented drivers I am sure it's fun.

 

But I will never understand why anybody would want such a car in Bangkok. For what? Using the 1st and 2nd gear only? Probably overheating that thing in the traffic? And they have to drive very careful to avoid any pothole. What's the point?

Come to think of it Somchai did mention he had a few 'bits' left over after the repair.... 

A solid car. Can even used as a sub if necessary. 🙏

Every friday afternoon on the commute home I see atleast 3 supercars belting it up the motorway to Pattaya.

Wish I owned one !

I'm sure they are great cars, but If one obeys the speed limits I fail to see how much fun is to be had in real terms on any streets.  Maybe more suited to open days on race tracks but as you say only exceptionally talented drivers would ever fully get their moneys worth

These super cars have an enormous power to weight ratio and throttle control is critical if one is to harness the car's potential. An inexperienced driver can overpower the rear wheels provoking a power slide the correction of which requires skill and adroitness. It seems the driver was found lacking in both, is my assumption.

Where does it say that the driver was the owner? It was being test-driven after repair, probably by the garage that did the work.

Ah well. Back to the repair shop then.

Come on, you know why. Face. There can be no other reason. There can, actually, be very few countries in the world where such a car can be used to its potential. Germany, with no speed limit on the autobans I guess. Anywhere else? Still, if people have got money to burn buying expensive toys, up to them.
