Yes, on many roads now there is a maximum of 80 in the left lane, minimum of 100 in the middle, and maximum of 120 in the outside. Simple isn't it?

Then when you get a 100 sign, does that apply to ALL lanes or what?

I believe Thais think the speed limit is the minimum speed they can go, so quite surprised that this convoy is going under the speed limit.

Why did they need two lanes....why couldn't they drive on the inside lane....why couldn't they drive on the hard shoulder? <deleteds> is what they are.

They need more space because of possible inability how to drive.

I'd love to see the receipt...................................... :cheesy:

Well i wouldn't hold my breath whilst waiting to see it .   Seriously though the maroon and yellow coloured highway patrol cars do seem to spend a lot of time providing "escorts" to various "VIPs"    Where I live its quite common to see them escorting minibuses to the cambodian border presumably escorting people to the casino there.  I have also seen them escorting various Cambodian registered vehicles to and from Surin city center, presumably visiting the hospitals, and I once saw them parked up in the Makro car park with a Cambodian Lexus

I can't imagine its anything other than a cash payment that is accepted, especially in the case of escorting Cambodians, As far as Thai VIP's are concerned ,I have no idea how they pay ,  and to be honest I couldn't care less

Obviously money can't buy driving skills. 🤦🏼‍♂️

It must have been boring to go around 60 with such expensive toys. 😂🤣

The video shows the rear end of a Honda, and a quick glimpse of a yellow 'supercar'. How many were involved in the convoy?

The video also shows all the other participants.

The video was about 6 minutes long so couldn't be 4rsed. But I DID see a yellow one in front of the Honda and police bikes.

The "M6" is a stretch of new highway, elevated in some places, that follows the #2 highway for a ways, starting on the west side Pak Chong district.
It splits away from the 2 at the East side of the Lumtakong reservoir and takes a more "northern" route to Korat.

It connects to highway 204 on the West side of the city of Nakhon Ratchasima.

I thought this was supposed to be some kind of "superhighway" when it was first announced but most of it just seems to be the same, lame, 2 lanes (each way) cement highway that will need extensive rebuilding every 3-4 years.

Wasn't this highway connected to the Chinese (owned/operated/profited from for decades) high speed rail project ?

Just antagonizing other road users, hogging all the lanes.

It's going to cause aggressive driving by those in a hurry, wanting to drive at the speed limit.

Our roads are full of delinquents, from the top down.

No different to the usual trucks occupying three of four lanes on the Ptya to Bkk motorway, all engaged in a slow motion attempt of overtaking eachother.

80 100 120 what per what — please be more pre use!

In Thailand, KILOMETRES are used, not pre used!.

So can you not deduce that 80 means 80 KPH, 100 means 100KPH and believe it or not, 120 means 120 KPH. Precisely.

Probably had to sedate the Thai drivers.

Ferrari Joe out for the weekend?

I cant believe the response to this??  Everybody knows that in Thailand those with money are afforded luxuries not available to the average Thai and these priveledges include amnesty from any crimes committed plus police escorts in case some riff raff tries to interfere with their entitlements.

Lots of bitter comments like this. It was clearly a film shoot which is why the police stopped anyone from passing, A normal "VIP" convoy is done in one lane and people can still pass.  After five minutes (once the take was complete) they all pulled over to the side of the road to let people pass. Even the annoying voiced lady in the video saw the camera car at the end and said 'Oh, it is being filmed. Ok."

To do that kind of shoot you need permissions/permits arranged in advance, you need police and you need to pay for it. And they generally do it in rolling blocks as they do in this video.

We have done car shoots all over the country, shutting down expressways. The police will block for a take then you let the public through then when the police deem it safe they'll block the traffic and you can go again.

If you don't get permission you can't do it.

It's really a nothing story, a few minutes of inconvenience and frustration (5-6 minutes), then the blockage is gone and you're on your way. They also generally do these on Sundays when the roads are quietest and there will be less disruption for the public.

I would have been annoyed to have been stuck too but after I few minutes I would have been over it and I also would have enjoyed driving past that long line of supercars and admiring the view.

Anyway, back to rich Thai bashing, the floor is open.

O.M.G.!!!  The utter agony this caused. Imagine the pain and discomfort suffered not being able to do 140 and being able to weave in and out of traffic like the crazed yaa ba  looneys they are, then having 5 minutes added to your driving time!  Too freakin' bad

Believe it or not, there are blue MINIMUM signs either side of several schools here in P'lok.

Schools on the motorway?
