Police in Thailand have successfully tracked down two foreign men accused of stealing rental motorcycles from Krabi and riding them to Phuket. The suspects rented the bikes from Koh Lanta but never returned them, sparking a search that ended in their arrest.

Choeng Thale Police turned to Facebook for assistance, sharing images of the men and appealing to the public. The duo, last seen near a cannabis shop in Choeng Thale, illegally extended the rental period by more than two hours.

Authorities promptly recovered the stolen bikes, which included a black Honda Click 160 and a bronze Honda Click 150.

In a twist, the same suspects were linked to thefts from local convenience and cannabis shops, although details on these incidents remain scant. Thanks to tips from a local cannabis shop owner, the public's vigilance aided in swiftly locating the individuals.

Following the recovery of the stolen bikes, the daughter of the rental shop owner thanked the community for spreading the word and warned others to be cautious. Police have confirmed that the foreigners will face prosecution, but they have not yet detailed specific charges and penalties.

Officers are proceeding with formal charges, keeping the public informed as the legal process unfolds.

???  2 hrs ? Thats surely not theft...  This seems very odd...

No rental company is going to be bothered about a 2 hour delay in return and start searching for the renters.

The bike owner already turned for assistance within 2 hours of a delayed return ?

There's surely more to this story than this....

Seems they were a local nuisance with petty theft...  Glad they were caught and will be charged...  but the story is odd.

Seems a bit excessive. I must be missing something.

the "community" is a bit harsh me finks..i also missed the time to give my bike back a few times over the decades and it was never an issue...not sure they "stole" the bike in the general sense

for me it looks like a stupid move went sour... they rented a bike forgot when to return it and decided to go for a tour.. big deal.. would have been clever to extend tough before shooting off

anyway not a biggie in my book..

2 hours late, yes,  but they were also in Phuket which is about 3 hours away - so it may seem to the owner that there was something not quite right.

Perhaps the owner had fitted trackers and knew their whereabouts.

I was staying in Khlong Muang back in the nineties and renting a mtx125 from Ao Nang. I got chatting to an American hippy, seemed a decent sort, he asked me where I got the mtx from and did they rent pushbikes, which they did. I took him over there on the mtx and he rented a pushbike. He stole it, I couldn't believe it, I actually rode around looking for him (there were a lot less farangs around in those days), what a lowlife.

I think the issue is MORE than two hours. Two hours is kind of a grace period. These guys took the bikes from Krabi to Phuket and kept them for way more than two hours.

Two weeks is more than two hours, is it not?
