Good to see a review where someone gets it that there's so much more to Pattaya than the nightlife and how that is just the icing on the cake.

Stickman is obviously getting old.

I never spent anytime in pattaya until a few years ago. I do think it is a well rounded family destination with cheap hotels.

I don't agree with the article. Pattaya is super crowded currently and the traffic is insane. It's hard to even cross the street. I do agree that a lot of establishments are empty though.

Well a slight contradiction.....perhaps mostly local tourists?

This photo reminds me of Groucho Marx's "Who'd want to belong to a club that would have me as a member?"

Don't get me wrong...  I'd fit right into that demographic if I hadn't taken the oath back in the '80s.  But... Dang.

The crowds are thai's. People who you won't find in the venues stickman typically writes about and who you would probably never have the pleasure of meeting. Like thai bbq's, numbered club type bars, etc.

There used to be a saying that people just drive around in circles...and it only matters because someone is in your way...

My mate stays at the STAY hotel around the corner.

He likes to drink at 5 star early afternoons, as he gets himself drunk, talks to the freelancers walking up and down the beach. Once he's drunk stumbles back to his hotel with a girl.

The bar is OK but the street vendors don't stop, one after the other. 😂

was in town over the weekend, I thought the traffic and crowds were very mild compared to high season times... Even moreso given it was a long weekend.

Agreed. I could not believe how early Friday evening how quiet third road down to Klang from Nua was. Normally it is nose to tail at that time.

When there are no buses with Chinese around, that clears up traffic quickly.

I go into town every day, for the past 6 months or so, I rarely see a bus. Where I live, several attractions that cater to Chinese tourist are located, they are also very quiet.

Definitely not as many.

Unfortunately there is a Chinese owned Muay Thai and BBQ place around the Panied Chang junction and just one bus turning left going south can cause major traffic strife.  Not been as much of an issue last few months and just seemed to be less cars in general.

He's a bit narrow minded, thinks Pattaya is now good just because of central Pattaya, like most bar flies they just hang around bars and don't venture out.

I couldn't think of anything worse than living in Bangkok

I turned up at a Thai restaurant Sunday night on the North end of the Railway Line and there were quite a few coaches arriving there... they really took over the place.

Were that buses with foreign or Thai tourists?

He's just pandering to the audience, he cannot stand the nightlife scene, or Pattaya, it's just income.

He will never move back here, anyone leaving NZ for Thailand would have to have a mental problem
