I think he is smart to know that he is a bane to the future of his party to remain among the contender for next election. The sound defeat by Chaikasem and Anutin ability to coral his coalition must be the wake up call and time to step away. I feel he is signalling that he will retire from politics

Actually, officially they weren't, as she hasn't been banned from politics, only dismissed as PM, which is another quirk in the court system.

Thaksin is a pathological liar, a thief, a racist, a mass murderer (2 mass genocides under his tenure) and from the beginning of his political career right up to today, he has caused more political instability to Thailand then any other person.

He is also a scheming, self serving narcissist, who will switch sides at the drop of a hat just to stay in the picture, occasionally throwing his own family members under the bus, to save his own skin.

 

I now hold the personal opinion that his main goal in life now (after his own self preservation) is to destroy Thailand politicly, in the belief (in his mind only) that he will be accepted with open arms and become Thailand's saviour.

Or, I assume he knew before take off that a flight to SIngapore would arrive too late, so why didn't he delay to the next morning to fly to Singapore?  

 

A different angle, will his now removed PM daughter, her husband and kids join him in Dubai?
