Tourists and locals are raising alarms over the open sale of sex stimulants, sex toys, and illegal cigarettes along Pattaya Beach Road. Without proper tax stamps, vendors blatantly display these items without fear of legal repercussions, damaging the city's reputation as a prestigious tourist destination.

Complaints highlight a brazen display of these products, particularly in tourist-heavy areas. Vendors have even rented shopfront spaces to showcase sex stimulants, sex toys, and various cigarette brands, with no regard for law enforcement. This open selling poses safety risks to consumers and tarnishes Pattaya's image.

Similar activities have been reported in Buakhao Alley, Pattaya Second Road, and the beachfront. Sellers display goods in car boots or tourist gathering spots, exacerbating the situation and risking the safety of visitors. Tourists and residents are urging authorities to intervene promptly and enforce laws stringently to curb these illicit activities and protect Pattaya’s image.

Authorities are now under pressure to tackle this issue seriously. Residents demand strict law enforcement to prevent recurring violations and maintain order, crucial to preserving Pattaya's status as a world-renowned tourist hub, reported Khaosod.

Have some heart! They can´t have time for everything. The police are too busy trying to find prostitution in the city.

1st you need a police force. There's a woman who parks her motor bike every day causing traffic chaos at Mike's Shopping Mall entrance on 2nd Road. She sells contraband cigarettes. It is a short walk from the police station if any officer felt like some exercise. He c(sh)ould arrest her on both counts in an effort to justify his salary.

I think the commentary is a bit silly. Having sex stimulants and aids on display for sale is hardly the crime of the century, when sex itself is being openly sold adjacent and widespread. Or is having a working girl/whatever handy a form of 'tester'?

Have they any clue what the image of the city is??? Known all around the world as the sex capital....for more than half a century already and now they are worried???? Of course as long as they stick their head in the sands, and keep telling there is no prostitution, the gogo bars are only for show and a drink and there are no drugs, you don't need to take any action in which way

Nope..Almost no safety risks.

and tarnishes Pattaya's image.

Pleeease....Pattaya is the HUB of tarnished images

Tourists and residents are urging authorities to intervene promptly

I seriously doubt anyone gives a rats azz...I doubt they have got any complaints.

Without proper tax stamps,

Folks, here is the problem..Someone forgot to make the proper donation..

When the younger folk get their hands on those cigarettes it can be a lifetime of addiction. Expensive addiction.

Let's see the cops bust into action on this asap.

Any verification? Quotes from outraged members of the public? No, I thought not. If those who the article says are disturbed by seeing such things on sale in plain sight then the police can see them too, but they clearly have no interest in reacting to the imaginary public outcry. Same in Sukhumvit in Bangkok. No-one cares.

It is when the "drugs" can be a toxic combination of chemicals. These vendors are a nuisance and a blight on the city. They are there because no one in the policy or city admin cares.

For sure! and when those younger folks get their hands of those sex drugs... I dare not consider the effects of that addiction! "No one (well, male) rides for free"

"....... damaging the city's reputation as a prestigious tourist destination."

Do me a favour - what is Pattaya famous for?

  • Popular Post

I reckon the biggest things impacting the image of Pattaya are the lack of enforcement of all laws, the dodgy transport from Bangkok to Pattaya and the rampant corruption slowing the delivery of the much-needed infrastructure improvements. I'm sure there are others, but I somehow doubt a dodgy sex toy would make most peoples' lists.

I'd be interested to see just how many tourists and locals are raising concerns. My guess is very few indeed. As for tourists are these Thai tourists? Old Buddha loving biddies that think everything that is connected with fun should be illegal.

It's hard to imagine that somebody would engage in a practice like this because the city has such a prestigious tourism image, and it's known around the world as being just a wonderful family destination, without any morality issues and without anything that might expose the little ones to the other side.

Need to be licenced to sell cigs.

Stone aged consumer laws' where you can buy weed' but not a vape for example

Will drive a black market or a pink rabbit in this case.

Give it up blaze that was so last week.

I don’t care about the toys as long as they aren’t second hand or second orifice 😆

The last thing Pattaya needs is snowflake killjoys. Message to the moaners, if you don't like it go somewhere else.

The displaced weed merchants need to sell something.

Have a heart for the brazen hussies.

In my view the biggest issue is that these things are illegal so the black-market products are very low quality.

What’s wrong with the bus service from Bangkok to Pattaya? In my experience totally reliable, always bang on time, heaps of leg room, crazily cheap. Way better than long distance buses I use on my European holidays. I’m talking about the bus from Suv airport to Jomtien - haven’t used the Ekkamai to North Pattaya bus for a while, but I never found anything wrong with that either. If you don’t like buses, you can catch a taxi for a small fraction of the price you’d pay in Europe for the same distance.

Now you need drugs to have sex?

What are sex drugs, anyway?
