TAT believes tourists will return to Pattaya in May

1375-N1-Mar-13-12-TAT-Pty-office-believe

PATTAYA:--Call it optimism or wishful thinking, but Pattaya tourism officials believe things will get better for the industry in May.

Pinnart Charoenpol, director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Pattaya office, said March 13 that she believes the coronavirus pandemic crisis that is shutting down most of the world will ease enough that people tourists start returning to Thailand in May or June.

She said TAT is working with Chonburi tour operators, the province’s Attractions Association, the Pattaya Business & Tourism Association and others to push family trips to Pattaya while schools are closed.

Reality, however, suggests otherwise. Thailand on March 17 imposed closures of bars, pubs, massage parlors, tourist attractions and sporting events and is encouraging people to stay home and minimize social interaction during the Covid-19 crisis.

You are very observant. Here's a shot of the flying pigs enjoying a well deserved swim with the tourists.

Even I would go to Pattaya if they had any good bands on and Thailand do have one or two, not as good as this Japanese one from Kyoto though, they are world class

probably they found out they are not available ….. as I tried today at a few pharmacy too , not that I am a believer in it for 100 % , just out of politeness  I would accept to wear a mask

Can't fix "Stupid". Thailand has a corner on "Stupid" statements with TAT leading the pack.

What about social distancing . First there will to be 0 infections for at least 14 days before you can even think about bringing tourists back .

Amazing that with the virus about to explode in April in UK , with potential 0-80% income, that we are all going to book Thai holidays in May. I shoot my tenant if he didn't pay his rent and swaned off to Pattaya for a month

A report in the Business section of yesterday's Bangkok Post was about Chinese tourist from two provinces. They will be allowed to take holidays in April. At first these are expected to be only in China but trips abroad could be arranged for later on. The Chinese have approached TAT, so there is a demand from China. TAT are looking for quality tourists rather than larger numbers. Any future business is subject to there being no health concerns about visiting Thailand.

blowing their own trumpets - how very relevant to the OP

out of all the Asians I like the Japanese the most

UK Emabssy is urging everyone in Thailand that BA will stop flights 29th March and it may be "many months" befor they resume....not only that, no customers, no revenue, how many business will still be around in May.
