Immigration police chief Pol Lt-General Sompong Chingduang on Wednesday (May 27) announced the arrest of Briton David J. M., 47, who fled the scene after allegedly throwing his Thai wife Sukanda (last name withheld) off the eighth floor of a condo in Rayong province.

“The incident took place on April 28 at Ban Chang Cliff Beach Condotel in Rayong,” said Sompong. “The victim survived, because her fall was broken by the balcony on the seventh floor, but suffered serious injuries. She also told officers that her husband had forcefully detained her in the room for several days.”

Police reportedly tracked the suspect down to Baron Residence Hotel in Bangkok’s Soi Lad Phrao 130 using the biometric scanning system. The suspect had allegedly jumped from hotel to hotel in Bangkok.

M. reportedly confessed to assaulting his wife because she was threatening to leave him for another man after he had put all his assets in her name.

Rayong court had issued an arrest warrant against M. for attempted murder and holding someone against their will.

She had her long plan, once everything in her name bye my love.I don,t love you just with you for your money. how many are playing this long game

  • Great job tracking this attempted murderer down. 47 is still fairly young. How foolish to ruin his life for a Thai woman. Sadly, Is not the first and won't be the last.

I'm not sure crime investigation and challenging Sky Sports for the biggest touchscreen is going to help.

Sounds like  marriage made in heaven, scheming thai woman marries violent farang from new report

Though, I very much doubt that she would threaten to leave after already getting everything and  new man - she would just have gone

He ruined the rest of his entire life for what?

I thought that he was arrested on the 28/4 .

Did he make bail on the attempted murder charge?

his entire belongings which probably didn't amount to much anyway

I heard about throwing  momma from the train not from a balcony, i have a Thai lawyer friend and she's coming across similar situations all the times whereby Thai spouses are scheming and conniving to take over foreigner husbands properties...

The guy was not a full shilling to begin with I reckon all his assets were a box of cloths

I'll tell you what. Thais are robust people for sure. There are so many stories of them surviving what us old Farangs never do.

Not making light of the seriousness, but I was not surprised that she survived.

Smart wealthy people don’t put all their assets in someone else’s name...

so yes, I do agree he probably didn’t have a lot combined with incredibly low self esteem/confidence...

7th floor balcony broke her fall meaning she fell one floor? I doubt she hit the 7th floor and then fell to the ground? She would have died whether it was 7th or 8th floor free fall from either height....poorly choice of words

The old mind/matter dilemma. If he kept assets in his name, maybe he'd have gone over the balcony or had some other "accident". Try to keep your assets or your mind: choose one, get neither.

I don't approve of his actions. He should have paid closer attention to what was below his balcony.

I would be fascinated to learn how scanning a person's fingerprints and face at the airport could help find that person at a hotel that does not scan the fingerprints or faces of its guests.

not the brightest bulb in the pack eh ?

If his assets were a house, well we foreigners can only get condos in our name.

So of he also put other stuff in her name, duh, good move guy. The rest is

standard if you want to live in a house, you need a wife to have the house

in her name.  Not a great ending for this fellow.

Geezer

Should have been a higher floor.

I worked with an Ozzie guy who killed his gf in Bkk this way. Thus was about 1997, and will probably be dead now. He was 24.

He was beaten almost to death before trial.

This guy will be too. They will probably allow her family and friends find with him alone.
