Pattaya Being Washed Away by Storm Water

Featured Replies

Today Pattaya experienced heavy rainfall for about 2 hours. It seems the new drainage system is not fully operational since the beach, from Pattaya Klang To Pattaya Nua was shredded by storm water overflow from Beach Road. Looks the beach will have to be re-built again

I'm all for animal rights and i think this picture is stressing the dog which has important things to do. At least he does it on the plastic, not on the sand.

NICE!!!!!  drop it like a BOSS.????

Thing is, this was not a big storm, it was less than a couple of hours of rain.

"It seems the new drainage system is not fully operational" ..

Well according to the Mayor it is fully operational, and he was quoted saying that it now only took 45 minutes for the flood water to drain away, where it was hours before.

Might be back to that 1969 look real soon !

Lucky there are not many "tourists" around  to spread these sort of photos all over social medial  and damage the reputation of Pattaya as "A world class family beach resort"  ????

And of course doggie doo is biodegradeable unlike plastic & glass!

Anyone know how many times Pattaya has "fixed" the drainage situation?

5? 10? 20?

Well the beach canyons are smaller now so I guess that a improvement....

Once a year, every single year I think.

I wonder who has the sand supply contract?  I see they now also want to widen Jomtien beach.  What a great investment considering the recurring business lol!

No problem.

Mayor got good family connection's

Going to be fixed again for som 600 million bht soon like every year

I remember reading they predicted that within the first 3-5 years  half the new sand  brought in to make up

Pattaya beach would be washed away but that after that the erosion rate would slow..so yes seems like a recurring business.

It is being washed away to Koh Larn, where it will be dredged up and sold to the Jomtiem Beach improvement project... sold it twice, what a business.

Of course it's being washed away. Again. How else can City Hall and their friends make money by replacing it. Again.

Central and Provincial Thai government would be hemorrhaging money at the moment.  This will be reflected in the lack of repair and upgrade to infrastructure in the future.
