April 1, 20214 yr Ok, so if I go to BeQiuk, they will tell me I need new tyres... These are my fronts after 12,000 km. There's 2 different types of marker on them and it looks like I'm close to me. Any thoughts? Apart from saying my right foot is obviously too heavy...

April 1, 20214 yr If you think they are wearing, go and get a full alignment check... Thomson Garage in Bangna have got some good equipment and speak english.
April 1, 20214 yr Popular Post Those small bars in the tire grooves are wear indicators. When they reach the level of the tire tread, it is replacement time. They are, so it is.

Indeed, but after only 12,000 km? Definitely time for new, and a full alignment check as suggested above but they don't look feathered or particularly uneven. @pedro01 what's the vehicle? "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

It's a C43 AMG 4Matic Coupe - bloody mouthful of a car name that. I would guess my foot is to blame rather than the alignment - but it'll be checked anyway. Just came as a bit of a shocker seeing them that low after buying it in August 2020.

April 2, 20214 yr in the old days an escort xr3i, would have got through a set as quick, its a sports car so expect the tyre wear, a new set is called for very soon and a lump of wood under the gas pedal, that should make then last longer
April 2, 20214 yr Author Funnily enough - went to the Londoner Pub waiting for the replacements and mentioned why I was there so early to the Thai Manager lass who has the same car. She started grilling me as they have the same car but a year or so older & are getting through tyres just as quick. "does your husband drive fast?" - yup "does he pull away from the lights like it's Le Mans?" - yup "does he appear to be enjoying it?" - yup "can you afford the new tyres?" - at that she smiled, shook her head and walked off Still not sure if hubby is getting a bollocking when she gets home or not. But at least I know it's not just me

Not that I am complaining - but it's a whole new world to me. I barely get through 1 set in the life of owning a car. Now it's going to be every 7 months. Jeez.

Got Contis too as the replacement. I know <deleted> all about tyres though, I just stuck with the same brand. Its 385hp, 0 to 100 in 4.1, its no ferrari but then Bangkok is no race track. Plus I drove to Samui and in the month there went our at 2am every night doing laps of the island.
April 7, 20214 yr Given how quickly the Continentals have worn on that car, I'm rather surprised you've bought the same make again. Personally, I'd have tried something different.

They are contracted to use continentals. Anyway, I asked someone in the auto industry here and he suggested likely causes: -negative camber -heavy driving -the torque transfer characterisitics of the car (it give a snap response) and this sacrifices the tires -the continentals fitted to your car are known for moderate durability. So you may need to take it easier on the pedal to make your tires last longer:)

I can also confirm snap response, when I drop it down 2 gears and floor it. I am thinking fun > tyre lifetime. So I am at one with buying them every 10 months.

I no expert! first from the looks of the tires it is time although only 12,000 reason it is anyone guess. I wouldn't waste the money on full alignment on those tires although technology has changed old days your alignment off you would feel it on the steering wheel and certainly see the even wear on the tread. Your driving a AMG? Getting new tires what is the problem????? Just because you can doesn't mean you should driving is a privilege it should be enjoyed it isn't a matter of life and death so if you know it is your foot? when you have the rims off take a look at your pads front and back with only 12,000 that might give you a good indication?

April 9, 20214 yr Drive a high performance car and the tire wear will be accelerated. No one buys an AMG and drives it like a Vios - altho' many buy a Vios and drive like it is an AMG ! 12K is in the ballpark for wear - doubt any other brand will increase this.
