Thai netizens were in hysterics after a video showing a man trying to pour cement on a flooded road was shared online.

In the clip, the construction worker is seen carefully laying the cement alongside a marker in the road in order to keep it in a straight line.

The only problem being, the man is wading through ankle high water to do so.

It is not clear where the clip was taken but it was shared on social media on Wednesday (21 April).

In case you were in any doubt, laying concrete in ankle high water isn’t a good idea.

According to the experts, pouring concrete in the rain is only likely to ruin your construction project.

According to the Concrete Network, “After freshly mixed concrete has been placed, water in the form of a driving rain can do much more harm than good. Pouring concrete in the rain can compromise its strength, increasing the tendency for dusting and scaling to develop”.

“Once the damage is done, it can be hard to rectify and will often ruin the appearance of the finished surface. Don’t let it rain on your parade”.

Wise words.

Let’s hope the laying of that particular bit of cement wasn’t in a soi near you.

Contractor tries pouring cement

Cement is a grey power, when mixed with sand, aggregate and water, produces CONCRETE!

What’s the slump ?

Horizontal!

yes you are absolutely correct. underwater concreting measures the slump flow. not the slump height.

His boss told him to order fifty slump, it was a bit dry so needed a drop more water.????????

What's the problem, it was probably waterproof cement...????

And in fact cement should be kept moisturized for optimal curing...????

I have witnessed Contractors laying Tarmac down in the pouring Rain on several occasions.

After time, it will just peel up like delaminated Tyres

If you connected all Thai women in just one family, in series, you could  light up Manhattan.

Amazing Thailand: Contractor tries pouring cement on flooded road .

My dad use to pore concrete floors in water in cellars long time ago, they said that they did that so it would seal 100% .

What is uproar!  The guy like a good soldier follow the instructions pour the cement and he did just that!  Was he told if raining don't pour?  The truck was loaded cement mix ready to go he can't just return it and get a refund leaving in the truck would have just renter the truck future useless!  The guy made the right decision dump it on the road the location ordered jack hammering it is much easier done on the road than inside the truck tank!????

Best critical decision I've heard  here in Thailand!

A fair and balanced article would come back after the concrete sets and note the results.

That's why there are so many holes in the country.

But the concrete goes with the flow.

Also did it and concrete came out impeccable. Did my research first ... concrete cures by chemical reaction even underwater.

You can mix or add activators for the cement to cure under water.

Not that i think he did though.

down the nearest drains?   to harden later when the rain stops. Is it likely that the next flooding in that street will be noticeably more?

Bricks are useful.

yes indeed, but they don't 'think'

This is straight out of the ‘he digs the hole, I fill the hole’ !!!

He digs the hole I fill the hole:

Walking down the road in Thailand a guy sees another filling in a hole in the side of the road.

The observer asks, what are you doing ?

The worker replies, filling in the hole of course,

The observer asks, why ?

The worker replies, I do this every day.

The observer asks, each and every day you fill in a hole on the side of the road?

The worker replies, I do this every day.

The observer asks, who digs the hole?

The worker replies, that guy down the road.

The observer asks, each and every day he digs the hole and you fill the hole?

The worker replies, Yes, every day we come here, he digs the hole, I fill the hole?

The observer asks, and this is the same each and every day?

The worker replies, Yes, except there usually another guy who puts the pipework in the hole, but he’s not here today !
