Pattaya: Talks held with tourism reps on Covid crisis - but VAX will have to wait to October

Sophon Cable TV reported that Pattaya's mayor Sontaya Kunplome had conducted a monthly Covid crisis meeting with eight representatives from the tourism industry.

Top of the agenda at a restaurant discussion was the vaccine rollout that was supposed to be prioritized for tourism cities like Pattaya.

The media said that Sontaya hoped to get his hands on 1.5 million doses of vaccine for the Pattaya and surrounding areas.

But they reported that vaccination was not likely to begin until the last quarter of the year.

That would be October 1st at the earliest.

Sontaya said that all 11 districts of Chonburi would be vaccinated then with 100,000 jabs done per day.

The meeting discussed how facilities, including a sports stadium, were being prepared to facilitate this.

A massive fail by the Thai government.

It's not as if Covid has just arrived here, it has been around over a year, but failure to plan ahead has left Thailand lagging miles behind other countries.

October, for heavens sake, we aren't burying cables here... get on with it.

October?

Just starting then?

That's pretty pretty pretty BAD.

October.... Bloody pathetic, what is wrong with these clowns>

Vaccine is needed now, Pattaya survives on tourists, yet those idiots in charge are just pixxxing about, pathetic.

They are now clamouring to buy vaccines from every man and his sputnik. It seems quite obvious that the much heralded (but not recently!) locally produced AZ vaccine will not be rolled out as expected.

Talk and talk and talk. Only talk, no action. Let's guess what's next? Vax in 2025?

Another pathetic excuse, could not organise a P**s up in a brewery

What happened with June?

As the Russians used to say, 'another damned crop failure'.......

And expats think they getting theirs in June. Chances are zero. Chances of Pattaya are getting theirs in October 2021 is the same

IMO

Was a boozy meeting in an upmarket resteraunt really necessary?

Of course. There was a similar meeting with Rayong officials a week ago at a resort which resulted in all the staff needing covid checks as 8 officials tested positive.

A Thai trait.

Not being able to see any further than the end of your Nose.

Not just this Government, and the Covid situation, but it seems its a trait nation wide.
