Comments made by DP and health minister Anutin Charnvirakul suggested that people in Thailand will not be able to choose which Covid-19 vaccine they receive.

The minister was speaking to Daily News and other media after meeting reps of Sinopharm the producer of Chinese vaccine.

He said that vaccine negotiations with Sinopharm had not yet begun as they had to submit documents to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to satisfy their requirements.

He said that Thailand was not blocking any vaccine and was ready to register any that satisfied the requirements.

He said that vaccine producers had been hampered in their ability to sell vaccines in Thailand due to demand in the countries where they are produced.

He said that people won't be able to choose a vaccine; which one they receive depends of its suitability for different groups of people.

Ones tested with children aged 12 plus would be given to children, he said by way of example.

Sinovac vaccine, the second dose of which is offered three weeks after the first is being given to frontline medical staff and people like immigration officers,

He stressed that all vaccines are safe and can save people equally.

Amazing money spent by them and the fear no one will want the vaccines procured to be vaccinated with is my guess for this.

The government failed to procure more than 1 vaccine and decided to mass produce another one, which many countries do not want anymore. Amazing.

If they are allowed to purchase them, which I hope they can be given the paperwork needed from this government allowing procurement, I will do the same.  They have indicated they will assist but as of now they are still dragging their heels.

That is the same as in the UK then, where you also can't choose.

So Thailand is the only country that can not get vaccines because other countries want to have vaccine too?? Strange explanation for failing vaccine policy

That's a mighty fine uniform for a civilian.

I see a "bring a friend badge", a "cooking badge" and a "my family built an airport" badge.

His only achievement in life has been born into a wealthy Thai family...and I see that badge also.

He will go down as a footnote in Thai history as a failure.

Do they do it in suppositories?

Just remember that AstraZenica is being made here in Thailand and will be released in June. I know that there will be a lot of idiotic comments from many idiots on here but just remember that it does not matter where AstraZenica is made it is made following the same formula that is used in every country that makes it. The biggest problem with getting any vaccine is that every country is competing with every other country to get vaccine for their own country and there are not that many companies making the vaccine and having it registered and approved by each individual country for their use. It is easy to sit back and criticize but non of you could do any better.

  1. 1.
protected from or not exposed to danger or risk; not likely to be harmed or lost.

Personally  I would have preferred to him to say, they are as safe as can be, but with all vaccines/drugs there are risks, albeit it minimal, they can still kill you or cause adverse affects.

The truth is in the pudding, no scaremongering now.

And would that have happened had Thailand chosen to join the Covax scheme .?

But they chose not to so now they are at the back of the queue as the vacc' manufacturers have to fulfill their obligations to the Covax scheme orders first ..

Everyone this fella opens his mouth he demonstrates how unsuitable he is for the position he occupies ..

Get this guy out of office now immediately; even the PM choose AZ vaccine.

C'mon man!

Thai prime minister gets first shot of AstraZeneca Covid vaccine after safety concerns!

Well, that's one strain taken care of {nearly) what happens when the next one comes along, another round of injections..
