"Sitthi said that in order to control the infection, a swab test will be administered to every inmate. Those infected will have their lungs x-rayed and be separated into different treatment groups according to their symptoms. Those that have not been infected will be tested every 7 days until the situation in the prisons is resolved.

...

The Department of Corrections estimates that these measures will result in many people being released during their 14-day period of quarantine. The Department has put in place a screening process for those who will be released. Those that are undergoing treatment in field hospitals will be kept there even if they are eligible for release."

Foreigners worry about when they can get a Covid-19 vaccine as Thai prime minister pauses idea of walk-in vaccinations

An announcement yesterday by Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan O’Cha in which he said he had personally put a “pause” on the idea of walk-in vaccinations has caused many foreigners to be concerned about when they could get a Covid-19 vaccine.

Thai officials with the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) have previously stated multiple times that foreign residents will be able to take part in the government mass vaccination program. However, any specific details have yet to be released, including what the definition of “resident” is.  There are several media reports of some foreigners with work permits in essential fields, such as medical workers or teachers, who have been signed up for vaccinations through their company or organization, but for the most part, the vast majority of foreigners in Thailand remain waiting for more information.

The CCSA has stated that although some foreigners were able to successfully sign up with the Thai language vaccination mobile application with social security cards or “pink” cards, that those applications were for Thai nationals and not designed for foreigners.  CCSA spokesperson Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin has stated that an English language mobile application for vaccine registration of foreigners was in development, but there have been mixed reports on when this will be available, with some reports stating it could be as long as August.

One-third the cases of a few days ago...real good progress being seen.

And yet the relaxation of the restrictions is moving very slowly! Quite why parks and pools remain locked down, I have no idea, and no re-opening schools has been put back another two weeks!

The numbers for new infections (outside the prison system) remain flat. The number of hospitalizations is reducing, with over 4,000 released today.

No more talk of building impromptu field hospitals.

It seems that now the effort will be to stamp out the clusters around Bangkok.

Yep. Sure. You said that when it was 2000, 2500, 2,700. Now we are having >3k. What exactly are you trying to say. To me it seems to be bobbing around the mid to high 2000's and low to mid 3000's. Is this your definition of remaing flat? Deaths do seem to be remaing flattish around high 20's to mid 30's. Maybe this is what you mean about remaing flat but the numbers of deaths is not good. Around 200 p/w or 800 p/m.

Here you go. Pink card or whatever. End of the queue.

But don't worry... in the second half of this year somewhere we will get more vaccines.. Everything is under control, because our Mr Prayuth take good care of everything.. delay stops and brakes all ideas that are not his..or that harm his divine status.... It would be better if he step down and give this position to some one who is capable to handle this. a board of doctors from different hospitals or something with full power for ordering and using any vaccine .

If they have no symptoms why do they need to inform anyone? Do you mean those who know they have been in contact with a tested positive?

Doesn't make sense I agree...the SCIENCE shows outdoors is the safest place people can be and children and young adults are at least risk from the virus (and at risk teachers and other staff can stay home).

Did you read the graphic?

"If you think you have been infected"

I’m not surprised there is a pause on walk in centers. Although in principle a good idea because of the seeming convenience, it seems to me that there could be an issue with large crowds gathering at certain times of the day all expecting to be vaccinated.

crowds aren’t a good idea anyway for obvious reasons, but what if they ran out of vaccine? The crowd could easily become an angry mob.

The graphic doesn't tell them to inform anyone either.

Pretty soon 5,000 per day will seem like nothing.

Notice how it's happening slowly?  3-4 k is somewhat normal now.

April 1 was 26 new cases (none from prisons).

May 1 was 1,891 new cases (none from prisons).

June 1 ???
