Thailand reports 2,680 new COVID-19 cases, 35 new deaths

Thailand on Wednesday (June 9) reported 2,680 new COVID-19 cases and 35 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

 

● 2,400 new infections

● 280 prison / prison infections

 

Wednesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 185,228 with 1,332 deaths.

 

The news comes as fines for not wearing surgical or cloth masks in public have been made official. They were announced in the Government Gazette on Monday.

The Covid train keeps a rolling right along.  Maddening.  I have also tried to register here in BKK for a vaccination and keep getting nowhere.  Yet his tory is also running now.

So what is it?, Who does the problem start and end with?, How can hospitals not postpone a vaccination if there is no vaccine?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Yes but the PM's statement was directed at Thais, not us foreigners who have very enquiring minds to understand the logic of statements.

As far as I know numbers staying steady like this for weeks is as probable as a coin landing on its side. Usually either they go up or down but never stay flat.

 

If someone says the curve is going down it is just an illusion of scaling. A difference of a few hundred is nothing.

March 31, 94 deaths. June 9, 1,332. The first death in Thailand was March 3 last year so 94 deaths in about 13 months. So-called 3rd wave sees 1,238 deaths in just over 9 wks. The govt. must take responsibility for these deaths. How many of these deaths would still be alive today if a total lockdown was enforced after the Thong Lor spread. History shows there was no lockdown and that Songkran was allowed. These covid-19 deaths are down to the govt.

There's nowhere to even register in Phuket for foreigners, no app or website taking at risk group unless you have a work permit.

 

As for the covid numbers, over 70 clusters in 37 districts in Bangkok yet here we are with the same ball park figures, no sense whatsoever of the true situation.

Phuket seems to have stopped reporting any cases whether 1 or 0, have not seen a report including them in a few days, very strange.

Confusion reigns as Thailand’s 3 million expats wait for their shots

Many government figures have announced that all 3 million of Thailand’s foreign residents can join the mass COVID-19 vaccine drive, provided they check arrangements before popping up at inoculation venues where the supply of doses may be limited.

 

However, most expats are very confused about what steps to take, and government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisiri is now telling non-Thais to wait until things become clearer.

 

The latest tip from Information Department deputy director-general Natapanu Nopakun is: “Look into details before going to the venues,” because several inoculation schemes are being launched for foreigners and each one with different conditions.

There is the biggest problem highlighted right there by Natapanu Nopakun. 

 

There should not be any different conditions based on nationality.

Confusion reigns in the fact that the registration website for here in BKK is only working for some and seems to have more glitches in it.  I have tried to reload the page over a dozen times since yesterday and still get the same note on the page:

For testing I have no comment but new case numbers, recoveries etc are reported every day at 6pm in the Phuket Times

Private hospitals and local governments are now officially allowed to procure their own #COVID19 vaccines (that are approved by the @fdathai).

 

The decision by PM@prayutofficial has been published in the Royal Gazette last night.

Often the comments are about the number of new cases ... but I look at the number of new deaths each day with concern ... daily having to tell myself: "But for the grace of God ..."

 

Frustrating that vaccines exist, but here they are unobtainable.

The BMA has released the latest vaccination statistics for the 25 special medical centers set up away from hospitals:

Thailand now on the "orange list" in a few european countries.

Nobody will come, unless you have a house/family here and want to stay for months.

The sec-gen of the Chulabhorn Royal Academy says that it will offer #COVID19 vaccines by Sinopharm for the (very auspicious) price of 888 Baht per dose. No date given yet.

so we have these numbers released every day and I do not doubt they are accurate for those that have been tested ...................but

 

with all the reported outbreaks in factories etc - once they have removed those needing medical attention - how many of those locked in are tested ?

 

Equally - how many in the prisons (who are already locked in) are they testing 

 

If they are not testing them then the daily figures produced are pointless and do not offer any useful information on virus detections
