So that's only 2,999,999 foreign arrivals then, based on yesterday's data projection. Still waiting for today's update from TAT, possibly 8 million today.

I have suspected for a couple of weeks that there are behind the scenes talks going on with Chinese officials in order to tailor these rules to satisfy them

✅ Spend up to $1000/USD on a flight

✅ Fly for 20+ hours

✅ Arrange for various paperwork

✅ Pay for mandatory insurance

✅ Get stuck on island for 14 days 

✅ Stay at the hotel because all the bars are closed

Bangkok too. Recently been imbibing in beer, babes & billiards under above conditions in 2 bars in BKK. Wonderful to have a bit of normalcy and human interaction again! People are OVER IT.

This is what I think of the Phuket sandbox.

 

 

Those of you living in Phuket may have noticed a marked increase in the sound of ambulance sirens this morning.

 

This is because large numbers of them are en route to the meeting where this decision was taken, to treat and collect all the jolly important and wise decision makers who have just machine gunned their feet!

Perhaps there never has been a 'sandbox' tourist  project - a friend of mine in London was trying to get a tourist visa using the 'sandbox' program and the Thai Embassy in London has never been officially informed of that operation.  To this day, the Embassy only knows what is in the news.

I would not recommend to do any vacation in Thailand for many reasons.

 

1. The government is not reliable on real information.

2. They lie very often to the public.

3. They always change there rules on daily base.

    Today so and tomorrow the other way.

4. They are very slow in rollout the vaccination.

    e.g. As they announced 2 weeks ago, they said to vaccinate all teacher within 

    2 weeks before the schools open on 14th of Juni. That did not happen, so the 

    government produce fake news by themself.

5. All the government officials are not trustworthy at all.

 

If you want to go on a holiday, there are thousands and thousands of better places,

who really warmly welcome you as guest and not see you only as an ATM.

 

I wonder what those 10 Americans, who seem to be the only ones booked for the Phuket Sandbox, will think of this move, lol?

Vaccinations really aren't necessary. The country will achieve herd immunity via contraction long before this lot can roll out enough vaccines ????

I doubt most people outside Thailand realise this circus is as bad as it is. A lazy mate of mine in the UK keeps asking when Thailand will re-open, And I just send him these stories, it's been a year, and he still dosent seem to get it.  Oh well, on his own head be it.

i wonder how you can have booking from people coming from july ? from what i understand they HAVE TO stay in a certified hotel for 2 weeks so they cant book airbnb /condos /villas ?

I saw so many thai people rushing into getting vaccines in the hope they can reoopen their business and survive . They gonna get what they called " herd imunity " very soon in Phuket and they still gonna keep all bars/clubs closed ? Thats nuts. I feel so bad for many people here that were still surviving and waiting for this... What a joke ....

More non science based, brain dead, fearful, timid, "let us sabotage tourism as much as possibly" policy. If the tourists are coming from abroad, and they have been both fully vaccinated and tested negative for Covid (both are requirements of the sandbox scheme), there is little to no chance of Covid transmission. Therefore why punish the bar owners, and the tourists both? And I wonder if these clowns have considered the fact that a limited number of tourists are interested in visiting a place with NO nightlife. And what do you want to bet they will leave the "no alcohol can be consumer in restaurants, because it causes a zombie effect" restriction in place, on top of the other nonsense?

 

Expect this dumb restriction to reduce the potential of 5,000 tourists in July, down to 2,200.

 

And just a quick question. He says due to recent clusters the bars will not re-open. So, if that is science based, shouldn't they close the pineapple plants and prisons too, that have seen major clusters?

I think we should wait and see how many tourists will come to Phuket  in July and from which countries 

Then gauge if the sandbox idea is a success ????
