Government Officials are the most 'difficult to control' but they let them out every day !

  • She is not wrong...

  • Of course not people drinking are harder to control and usually don't care much about regulations and safety once the alcohol starts taking effect. Its the same the world over bars were closed first a

Blaming the people again.

Ironic, seeing as government officials were involved in the thong lor outbreak that started this huge wave.

Blatant misinterpretation again.

Words used were "actions of people" , obviously some find it difficult to differentiate between "people" and "the people".

There is nothing ironic about it, in the correct interpretation it is all encompassing.

The only way forward was always obvious: anticipate investing in and procuring vaccines.

Some countries made expensive bets on several vaccine candidates.

The Thais preferred to lie to the international community claiming Thailand was "Covid Free" hoping they would get lucky and lure tourists back.

They 100% deserve the situation they are now in

what is this nonsense about "reopening" just when the virus is on the rise in Thailand ??

same garbage attitudes that they had in the west which killed so many, oh well get the crematoriums reinforced for they're going to need them..

The problem is that a small bar (like my good wife's ) in Bangkok could & did open before with no more than 10 people (3 outside) & all protocols followed.,,,,but  they lump nightclubs etc all in  together which is wrong

.Opening times 5 til 10pm to start.

The greedy, wealthy  landlords are still charging rent & refuse to budge meaning the staff get no salaries with no Government help at all.

But the tax man still wants the tax  return filed.

I understand that alcoholic beverages will not be available in the 'sandbox' of Phuket for now, so what those hundred of thousand of tourist to do with no alcoholic drinks available? drink cola or pepsi?...

It'll be interesting to hear the excuses for the non-appearance of those thousands!

You could probably count on one hand the number of Western tourists who would opt for a holiday where they can not even have a glass of wine with their dinner!

The tax man won't want any money if you did not make a profit. I doubt that is different in Thailand.

I am talking about company tax here not tax on wages.

So with no income but rents your probably not making a profit so the years company tax will be less or none at all.

Well the government should know. They had enough of their own mixed up in the wannabe hi so bars and clubs that started most of this wave

CV19 has never even been isolated, and 40 cycles of amplification gives

as many false positives as the oligarchs want in order to mess up ordinary

folks lives.  Funny that Covid is so deadly that you need a test to see if you

have it, and a vaccine that you have to be coerced to take.

Nothing brings out the wowsers better than the sale of booze outside of liquor shops and 7/11s. They want to blame a pandemic on those who partake of a beverage other than tea.  They roll out this pious rubbish as soon as you can say Job.  These holy joes are a blight on the landscape.

Screw them, I more concerned about my own ability too have a social beer :+)

All these hand gels that are supposed to stop the spread of Covid contain alcohol, so surely taking it in through the mouth is more efficacious than merely rubbing it on you hands?

I can understand not opening bars but at least let restaurants serve alcohol with a beer.

It was really just the groups of younger folks drinking out of a shared bucket of booze that started all of this <deleted>. Just stop the buckets and sharing booze. To each his own! Time to take your own health in Your hands.

Go to the beach, explore, Don't get waisted.

Good time  for people to stop drinking.  Best thing I ever did was quit drinking alcohol.  Also best thing to the people closest to me.

Really? Tet somehow they've managed to entirely map its structure?

They could fix a ball and chain to all customers on arrival and remove it on departure. At least, the will not move around - visiting the loo would need another solution.

You are so narrow minded in your thought processing it defies reason... so I won't.

You won't because it is unarguable. You just cannot accept it as you suffer from cognative dissonance and are brainwashed by everything you see on TV.

Drinking alcohol does NOT make you lose control or be violent, or be anti regulations or anything of the sort.

TOO MUCH alcohol is the problem!

What percentage of people drink too much at a bar?

Open the bars, and arrest drunkards, not deny what I think are the majority of responsible drinkers just having a couple of drinks.

Right, they're just drinking it for the flavor.

I've just read that the government is considering issuing Alcohol Ration books. Much the same as in the UK during WW2. You will have to register with your favourite drinking place and each drink will be ticked off in your ration book. Those not registered at that establishment will be refused.

The ration will be one small bottle of beer per day. Three sniffs of the barmaids apron will be counted as one small beer.

The spokesperson said that they have been alarmed at the way people observed dining in restaurants and drinking a glass of wine behave themselves. They have been seen laughing and joking with each other. They are obviously out of control and spreading the covid virus with abandon. It must be controlled. Happiness will only be allowed when the Government says so. The draft of this proposal was delivered for approval to the Thai Army headquarters and handed to the Prime minister, where he was having a quick one in the Officers Mess.????

TOO MUCH alcohol is the problem! - Who would decide on the limit of each individual?

Open the bars, and arrest drunkards... - Imagine the number of arrests. Would not the over crowding of prisons take the problem to another higher level? ... and then the flak that would be directed on the officials regarding the arrests!

Then Thailand will go up in the limbo of paradise, no prostitutes and no drunkards, I just have a doubt, am I in the wrong country?

And their cognitive abilities seem much worse than most long term alcoholics!

I know, each patron gets a hula hoop kept horizontal with strings tied around your neck.  Also you need to wear a face shield and rubber gloves.  The bar staff hand the drinks over with a pole with mechanical grip.  Social distancing sorted.

Getting into the bathroom may be a problem so each patron gets a catheter inserted at a local hospital and produces a certificate of insertion before allowed in.

And this will be the excuse going forward ad-infinitum.  "Drinkers bad.  Cause Covid outbreaks."  In the meantime alcohol consumption goes underground.

Keep them shut.  Wipe them out.  Force them to close.
Watch what happens to the economy and tourism both domestic and international after a sufficient number tour "Prohibition Thailand."

Agree 100%! These muppets have been on some sort of puritanical self righteous crusade for the past few years. They have done everything and anything to try to almost ban alcohol. It started with the stupid laws regarding the sales of booze during certain hours, then it progressed to areas near schools and temples, now it is the greatest gift of Covid giving them yet another excuse, let them get on with systematically destroying their own economy, we can always brew our own, or perish the thought, go back to drinking the illegal Lao Kao poison distilled in the villages.

well, yes. actually alcohol and cigarettes kill off far more people than any pandemic and should logically be banned as poisons, like hard drugs, but are tolerated for massive tax revenues.

conversely hard drugs are banned but should by same poison tax revenue logic be legalized ,

then controlled and taxed by govts., with most organized crime & massive national addict medical burden instantly gone..savings could fund universal income benefit thus cancelling poverty......

making too much sense for “political” humans though........ so again, what needs to be done, will never get done.......unless a motivated all-powerful benevolent “Dr. Manhattan” superhero type shows up......
