The national Security Council chief Gen Natthaphon Nakphanich in his capacity as head of the CCSA said he was waiting on information from the Ministry of Public Health before considering a lockdown.

 

He referred to dangerous areas where cases of infection are high as candidates for a lockdown as reported by TNN. But INN believed a more widespread lockdown could be in the offing throughout the country as Covid-19 infections remain high.

 

The general said that the CCSA were ready to consider anything. He pointed out that the lockdown of the country from April of last year cost the government 300 billion baht a month. 

 

Another one would mean another curfew and even more hardship.

 

It was not a question of avoiding a lockdown but that people advocating it have to realise the knock on effect on places that are not locked down and that all angles, and all people have to be considered in such a big decision.

Decisions decisions..

Oh gosh just wait.  Wait until they get to 10,000 + a day then maybe do something.

Various comments by authorities regarding 'possible lockdowns' is just about getting folks head around the fact that lockdown is coming.

Hopefully it will include holiday travel out of Bangkok.

Better tighten it up, the Czar wants to open the Nation in less than 90 days........ 10,000/day possibly,  looks like on course....

Just put a ring around Bangkok, dont let anybody out!.....oops .....too late!

Here in Pattaya, the streets are filled with cars from Bangkok. It might be a bit late for a lockdown.

Plus it takes organisational skills, and forward thinking. Something lacking in Thailand.

Spoke to a friend in Sydney yesterday, they extended lock down there for another week due to 18 cases one day followed by 27 cases the next.

 

I suspect lockdown is coming to Bangkok.

Prevention? Not enough vaccines

Treatment? Not enough beds, staff

 

And not enough crematorium capacity.

Close interprovincial travel , close markets and see what happens before closing entire country or banning alcohol sales which clearly achieves nothing

In a lockdown, would the airports be closed ?  Have a flight for Monday but will be coming from Kanchanaburi to Bangkok.

Vaccines do not work 1st second . Most ( J&J not ) require 2 shots , and for the Delta , you def need the 2 shots to be protected . So from getting your 1st shot , it takes at least 4-6 weeks to be working . If you see the numbers of 4-6 weeks before , you can imagine that it is too late for it right now ( although it would certainly help later on ) .

But there aren't millions of vaccines ready to distribute , what you don't have , cannot give .

it's 3 months too late.

the last year songran was cancelled and the wave was mild and fizzled fast.

 

now daily records are worse than the entire 1st wave 

Lockdown?  Nationwide or targeted?  I believe this will be the key question.  What about the "sandbox"?   It looks like Japan will be in another state of emergency(while the Olympics are going on?????).  "Truth is stranger than fiction".

 

One possible indicator is to look a the cinemas.  No new movies in a week. An employee at theatre in CNX told me no new movies until August, maybe.
