Do they seriously think Thais are about to start using what little money they have now to start buying tests every 3-5 days ?    They get more ludicrous daily

  • Here is a radical thought.  Try vaccinating the people with a quality vaccine.  Sinovac doesn't count as a quality vaccine.

  • Horrible choice of words.

This will help everyone who has insurance, and a boost in the arm for confidence for the handling of this coming crisis.

Bangkok – Thailand’s insurance company, Syn Mun Kong Insurance, this morning, July 16th, announced the sudden cancelation of its Covid-19 insurance policies following the worsening Covid-19 situation in Thailand.

They should just throw the entire nation is prison. It's easier that way.  No more pretenses.  Roll the country back 200 years socially.  Treat the nation like a nation of serfs.

Or?  Just give up and do what Sweden did.  Just roll with it.  Nobody talks about Sweden anymore because it didn't turn into the black death.  It's just another country with Covid cases but one that didn't destroy their economy or their small and medium business.

What will they do.  Make criminals out of generally good people.

If wit were you know what, these fools would be constipated...Oh.. Wait.

Talking about more restrictions in Country  should have had a total ban through out thailand travelling inter provincial wise

Get the vaccine programme out to all top priority

Yet talking about the Phuket sandbox working fine plus opening up other areas

Can't see it happening with the rise of the Corivirus numbers daily

Call it what it is.

The spokesperson for the CCSA, Apisamai Srirangsan, said at a press conference this afternoon that people were not taking overnight “stay at home” restrictions in Bangkok and other areas seriously enough and many people continued to gather, socialize, gamble, drink alcohol, and other behaviors that could continue to spread the Covid-19 virus.

These issues were the original concerns with the spreading of Covid-19 in March 2020. This surely now is an issue of poor enforcement. Kindly shame the offenders as happened before (Remember those initial cases?) and place the offenders in strict HiSo proof quarantine for 14 days with no smart phones or alcohol. (No TV would be counter productive.)

Two of the additional #COVID19 measures being considered by the govt for Metro Bangkok are permitting people to leave homes only on Mon, Weds & Fri and shutting down supermarkets plus restaurants on alternate day. Be prepared folks. #Thailand

If there was an Oscars for the most stupid Covid rule on the planet this would surely have to win if implemented.    The less time and opportunity you give people to buy food, the more people will of course be in the same place at the same time to buy the food.

The more I see, the more convinced I am that covid has now mutated into a member of government and is continuously devising ways to get more people in close proximity with each other so that it can continue in its quest to infect more and more humans.

I have never considered it a coincidence that Thailand's "leadership's" morality rules directly coincide with exactly what they claim "spreads Covid."  It's too convenient.
Gathering and socializing:
Hi-Sos in a Mall - OK

Commoners outside in fresh air and UV light in a park - Deadly
Hi-So and BKK Elite "leaders" eating in a restaurant without masks and social distance (and getting caught) - None of your business commoners
Commoners eating in a restaurant - Deadly

I could provide a bunch of example, but why?   This is how you put a knee an the necks of the commoners and squeeze.

I recall back in March 2020 you could not get into a 7/11 without passing an employee with IR gun, gel & noted tracking info. NOW that was a business led initiative long gone.

Same in the mails - many customers breeze pass "security" not conforming to the posted instructions. 99.9% are wearing masks though.

As for open markets - masks mostly on otherwise guidelines ignored.

Not a Yellow shirt (or Red or Brown or Dark Blue or Camo shirt) in sight. Basically just no enforcement - TIT.

as well as interprovincial travel being locked off

So they couldn't do this after the Thong Lor debacle and they couldn't do this after the outbreak in construction camp.
Nope.  Gotta wait until the virus and spread far and wide.

They had TWO chances to stop this and they failed.  These people are not only short-sighted but criminally incompetent.

Why did they not shut it all down during Songkran unless in their twisted corrupted minds they actually wanted it to spread nationwide.

Maybe so - the perfect virus storm out flanking the vaccines relying on human nature to help destroy humanity so in this respect the Covid virus is redundant.

Quite right.
I have gone out my way to speak with several local Thai business owners over the past two weeks, by asking them if they're going to take the Sinovac vaccine. So far, every single one of them has said no, they do not trust it.

Here's the beauty of living out in the sticks.
1. Virtually no government heavies - too much space, not enough heavies.
2. Barter and inter-villager trade - who needs to go to Big-C, Tesco, or Makro.

The rest of urban Thailand can melt under the absurd management of incompetents who chose not to control this when it was controllable but instead are now going to turn Thailand into an open-air prison (at least urban Thailand; at least for the commoners, not the Hi-So and connected).
Most Thais I know are rather deferential followers, right up until they've had enough.  And if you've lived here long enough you've probably have seen a quiet and controlled Thai finally snap?  It ain't pretty.

Remember Thaksin comments last week?  His handlers whom may not be happy with the current regime and whom possibly would prefer to have an active counter-presence in Thailand to Chinese influence have a rich history of manufacturing public discontent into - Colorful Change.
No dog in this fight.  Just observation.  But the fools may be laying the groundwork for major social upheaval.
Straw --> Camel's back --> <snap>
Just saying.  I don't see any end to this. Just more and more repression with a heavy emphasis on outlawing the exact activities that Thais find enjoyment and relaxation doing.  Right up until people have had enough.  Boy howdy, the people at the top have totally messed this up in just about every way possible.

We live in interesting times. Time will tell.  We're stocked up for a couple of month.  Time to kick back and watch the entertainment.

Why are they thinking they would see numbers plunge after only a week, and that is even if a lockdown would have

that effect which is highly doubtful.

They have just caused a new wave as people were running away from BKK. Well done.

so they are blaming the increase in cases/deaths on people not complying with the restrictions?

If that is so, why not just make the penalties for not doing so more severe, thus, the consequences will be more than people will want to experience, rather than enact wider restrictions.

more importantly, however, is that they seem to have expected a "turning off the light switch" effect of the current restrictions on the number of cases/deaths, which isnt medically/scientifically realistic.

the current covid load is based on infections that occurred before the current restrictions were put in place.

The checkpoints are mostly useless, my partner has friends who have departed and returned without even passing a checkpoint.

I'm guessing there are a lot of ways in and out of Bangkok.

So in their weekly meeting of the minds or lack of minds, they all pulled together and realized that Covid doesn't just come out at night and their nightly curfew idea wasn't working and is pretty much useless.

The article says it's because people are not obeying the curfew and continue to socialise gather together and drink alcohol thus spreading Wuflu.

So 217 violations but only 45 charged, why not 217 ?

172 Hi-So and connected friends of the government

Sweden is not controlled by a clan whose social utopia is a medieval feudal society.

Thailand is. The whole Covid phenomenon has helped immeasurably in heading towards that goal.

Luckily I have a 10ft tall concrete wall surround my house so I will just ignore the door bell !!

First there's the wall. Then there's the dogs.  Then there's us ignoring the people outside.  The dogs normally convince people to go away.
