BANGKOK (NNT) - Police have warned protesters who plan to gather in front of the Democracy Monument and move on Government House on Sunday, July 18th that they will be in violation of multiple laws.

Deputy Commander of the Metropolitan Police Pol Lt Gen Piya Tawichai, as spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Bureau, has asked protesters to show social responsibility and avoid gathering, as they face the threat of spreading COVID-19 among themselves and to others, reminding them that any gathering of more than five people is a violation of the Emergency Decree and that they could also be violating laws against public disturbance, and obstruction of traffic among others.

Between July 2nd and 11th, several groups defied the law to stage demonstrations. They included a network led by Parit Chiwarak; the Thai Mai Ton group led by Jatuporn Phromphan and Adul Kieoboriboon; the Prachachon Kon Thai group led by Nithithorn Lamlua; the Car Mob led by Sombat Boon-ngamanong; the Bangkok Sandbox group and the vocational group for the protection of democracy. The gatherings resulted in 10 cases being taken on by police for further investigation and 99 arrest warrants being issued.

Do you really believe that is why they are trying to stop these protests?   Really?

  • But when minions shut down Bangkok (2014) the police and military respond with "Oh my, what can we do, it's the will of the people"

So if you choose to be irresponsible & selfish to go out and spread Covid19 ............    expect to be locked up.

Thailand doesn't need large gatherings at this time.

Wait, if its just a long line of cars and only masked people are inside honking their horns how can this be seen as an assembly if they drive 1 kmh and in a circuitous route.  Asking for my friends Malinois.

So exactly how long should they wait to protest?? until the Pandemic is finished?
They are damned if they do and damned if they don't protest.
Had the government shown to be sincere in procurement of vaccines then I could imagine they wouldn't be protesting but they haven't just the opposite. Until today still NOOO Moderna vaccines ordered. AZ vaccine now delayed until May next year probably later considering the leaked letter from AZ that they only agreed to supply Thailand with 3M doses per month. It all seems planned to drag on as long as possible.

So who is it that's responsible for the increases in Covid cases and deaths. Thailand doesn't need this kind of incompetence.

Wow.

Do you know where that was?

(Some of the queues for testing appear to violate gathering size and social distancing rules.)

Indeed but it needs a decent and honest government instead with the necessary brain cells of course ???? Problem solved and nobody has to do irresponsible stuff, like you call it.

Quite clearly all old and vulnerable...

Using covid to oppress freedom of speech and maintain power, wonderful regime!

I would say Party on Wayne and he would say Party on Garth, yes sir this parties just about to get started, hang on to something firm and solid as we may be seeing a country wide meltdown with the latest confidential memos being published and showing the public just how much lying, cheating and double dealing has been going on.
