People living in “maximum controlled and restricted” or “Dark Red” areas of Thailand are being told not to leave their residences unless it is necessary to buy food or medicines, to seek medical treatment, to get vaccinations or to go to their offices because they cannot work from home.

This new lockdown measure, imposed by the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on Saturday, becomes effective on Tuesday and is on top of the other restrictions in force, since last Monday, to contain the deteriorating COVID-19 situation in the country.

The CCSA, in its latest announcement, has also adjusted pandemic zoning to reflect the actual situation in the country’s provinces.

Imagine coming to Thailand for a holiday and told you cannot leave where you are staying for your entire vacation apart from visiting the supermarket

Does this apply to delivery riders? Taxi drivers?

What about walking the dog? Surely that poses no risk.

I can’t see it applying to delivery drivers, and some may need to take a taxi to buy necessary items, or travel to a vaccination site.

Walking a dog isn’t necessary, so I guess that’s forbidden, unless you take your dog to the supermarket.

BUt taking the dog outside to so its business is a necessity, unless those with animals will now be able to train them to use the toilet.

The dog can use the garden, assuming there is one to use.

It's a step in the right direction, but it's not enough. Public transit should be shuttered.

And these measures shouldn't just be in areas that are already bad. Extend them to places not too bad yet so they don't get that way.

Use your heads guys!

Bruce you know as well as the rest of us that this Government is never proactive but reative, the only time they are proactive is to institute new regulations on foreigners to put money in the coffers.  If it costs money to do they will never do it hence the Lockdown is just a soft lockdown as they would have to pay money and feed everyone that can not take care of themselves or has no way to cook at home.

Highly contagious Delta variant means people should avoid any unnecessary contact . They should use their phones instead to order food , medicines etc .

If there is no delivery service yet , need to set up one as soon as possible .

The problem with lockdowns is they will not work unless you have 100% commitment to them. This not even close to the case in Thailand.

Because you have less people out and about doesn’t matter. Infections will occur and those infections get brought back home to family members.

Open everything and focus 100% on vaccination efforts.

Why do we have the delta variant? Border are closed. It proves border closure does nothing. So, open the borders.

What Thailand is doing is worst of all worlds. They have the virus running rampant, which it will do no matter what, and they are starving and restricting their own people.

As we have stated before to you, the country does not have the vaccines needed, so your talk of opening up would be extremely detrimental and the overloaded hospitals we now have would be sending patients needing treatment home and without the necessary needed equipment as oxygen is starting to become a horded commodity.  Until the day when they have the vaccines in hand your view is nonsensical at best.

I had a neighbour  who seemed to walk his dog to deliberately do his business in front of my wall.

What about travelling to immigration???  When are they going to announce postponing of 90 day / renewal requirements like they did last year??  Or are just sacrificing foreigners???

Do you spend all day, every day talking about this? That's a rhetorical question, by the way.

And that's what the Europeans should have done instead of Sandboxing.  They could have gone to the beaches in Spain. I hear the rain in Spain fall mainly on the plains. But in Thailand the are no PLANES – yes, correct spelling.

It is after all a discussion and open form, so like many I agree to disagree while pointing out the flaws I see in the statements of others.  Does it get old, sure it does, but it is unfortunately an issue that rears its head daily.  Rhetorically speaking of course.

Well I'm glad you're enjoying it and it's given you something to do.

More like he spends all day thinking erroneously about this.

Your ignorance is really starting to show with your posts.  Many countries have gone into lockdown, take Malaysia for example and now many more including Thailand are instituting such actions.  If your not happy and want it all opened up, then I would suggest you find someplace that would be more amenable to you and quickly before even international travel gets shuttered again.  Oh dear, now I have done it, i joined the if you don't like it here leave crowd, damnit I hate when i fall into the trap.

Great, so now your argument is “other countries did it” (so lockdowns must work, I presume is your stance).

As long as Malaysia is doing it, then it must work.

You do understand people die from depression, drug and substance abuse, domestic violence and god knows what else during these lockdowns right? I mean I just assume people know this stuff by now.

Read it again: lockdown is covid PLUS all the negative effects of a lockdown. No lockdown, at least people are able to work and survive and not die or all the things discussed above. You don’t half ass a lockdown and have it be effective.
