If it's voluntary walk up testing what is the motivation of people to seek a test?

Negative test for job or feeling slightly ill etc?

Not driving the figures unless they have been retested using the PCR test.  From information obtained Thailand is not counting these numbers in the case load, just using them to isolate these folks at home, or to lock them in a bubble and seal and never let the true case numbers be known.

The irritating thing is that those lists are running totals dating back to early in the pandemic. Back when things were real bad in Europe/USA with plenty Covid and not a vaccine to be had. Those numbers are still integral... look at numbers for say the last 2 months.....

Cases in the last 7 days... Thailand is 11th.

It was so so crowded. Much worse than I imagined.

 

I agree it was perfect storm situation to obtain covid virus.

 

I hate to put people off obtaining a jab however it's not the best situation.

This may not mean that all Moderna reservations are being cancelled. The link shows a notice from one hospital saying they were not receiving the number of doses they had ordered. Similar messages have appeared in the past. At one point, hospital allotments were limited to 10,000 doses, hospitals who had ordered more issued cancellations.

 

It may, possibly, likely, almost surely means Anutin has his hands in the cookie jar, yet again.

They by and large contained the first variant. But this Delta variant is more brutal. 

 

Hindsight is wonderful, but during that first year (and this doesn't only apply to Thailand) should have gone in hard for vaccines. But because the situation seemed contained, they were too relaxed. 

Everything the “rose coloured glasses” brigade have argued about during this pandemic has been proven to be wrong. You can’t argue with the numbers.

 

Much of what the rose coloured glasses brigade have argued about in the past (pre Covid) was subjective without hard proof to decide either way. Perhaps they have always been wrong all along.

The measures or vaccines won’t be the reason for the major taper, but everyone will say they are. 

i agree.  i think the 'measures' cut things down somewhat but this delta spreads real fast.  this thing is going to run and get who it can get and then it'll be gone for awhile.  looking at almost all the charts for countries (or states if talking USA), the numbers go straight up and straight down.  they don't go up and plateau in the stratosphere and hang there for six months.  i'm not ready to call a top yet but i think the thai govt official that thought two more weeks was not way off.  could it be a month ?  maybe.  but i don't see the peak in october that's for sure.

Yes and they leap straight onto the shelves without any human intervention needed. 
 

Oh wait, of course, people willl drive from all over the country to get there seafood fresh off the boats in the harbour. And the chicken farms will open their gates and hand out knives for everyone to slaughter their own chickens. And the pineapple farmers will invite everyone in to pick their own and people from all over the country will flock to the fields (wearing masks and social distancing of course).

The stalling of the numbers for several Days at about 18 K was the give away that the real number was over 20 K.

These numbers stalled just the same at about 9K prior to the 10 K barrier being broken.

August 16th will see 30 K if the Virus continues on its present rate of Infections, if it is not curtailed.

Many Expats are trying to help as much as they can for these people, but we cannot help everybody, there are just so many.

My wife when starting out in her teaching career decided to buy land and grow fruit - I could walk around her fruit and vegetables and rubber all morning and not pass the same tree. Worst case scenario for her she goes home with our daughter and lives off the land.

 

So, yes, she is smarter than a lot of westerners and wont need to hoard anything.

I had a friend start work at a factory this week, and she had to take a rapid antigen test.

True ! Some of the Workers in the Factories live locally in their Communities.

However there are also many, many, who travel Daily to their Workplace by Company assisted Bus, Minivan, and their own Cars.

Some of these people may be travelling upwards of 100 Km each way every Day for work, so if Covid is present in their workplaces, then it will soon migrate.

I find the news that supermarket shelves are empty grossly exaggerated. Sure, some products are currently in short supply, but by and large, I've had no trouble buying whatever I wanted to buy in my neighborhood in Central Bangkok. No need to stoke panic with sensationalist reporting.
