Thailand, along with several other South East Asian countries, have made Bloomberg’s list of worst places to be for the current phase of the pandemic which has been fueled by the spread of the Delta variant.

 

While Thailand was one of the most successful countries to tackle the virus in 2020, the country has regressed horribly with the spread of Delta in 2021.

 

Thailand has seen 1,092,006 cases and 10,220 deaths since April 1 with a mortality rate of 0.94% making it one of the hardest hit countries this year.

Certainly must be horrible right now if you are a local and on a low income. 

 

Looking at Pattaya now and the place is like a set from an apocalypse movie.

 

Yet the 116m thb beautification of Pattaya beach continues apace, with imported trees from Nong Nooch and funky paving.

 

Likely that locals do not blame the local mafia clan that runs the place but tourists will feel the brunt of it with increased hostility and crime, that is if tourists ever do return in any great numbers.

The Thai baht seems to think otherwise ⬆️ ????

Who cares???? Soon it will be October and we will welcome all tourists back to our country in a Sandbox.. Pattaya, Phuket, Bangkok and all other places... although  many countries gives us a no go area.... Look our cases a declining already and the vaccines are going well.

well Im happynuff  here in the land of smirks,  and no  great hurry to  travel to my home country, but I do miss my kids and grandkids visiting  me here.

When it first hit Thailand and there were so many Chinese travellers I thought it would spread very quickly. Pattaya for instance. But it didn't and someone should take a bit of credit for that.

Western currencies and even China’s Yuan have all taken a bath with this Baht.  Pushing 3% in a week—what gives?  Delta rages and the mighty Baht rises.

I suspect Thailand is buying up baht on the currency markets.. they have plenty of foreign reserves.

I'm beginning to think Cigna write these bad news items to promote their business. Finding their promotion at the bottom of each bad news item doesn't promote their business in my eyes

Do they- not sure under 7 yrs of the present government. Fully expect someone to say "we thought foreign reserves needed to be banked off shore"?

Sort of contradicts an earlier article this week stipulating, that TripAdvisor voted Thailand the next best thing after sliced bread or so ? 

Thank god were not in vn I have friends who are starving and are not allowed out of their room to shop Police patrols and army too .Total overboard lockdown .
