I  believe they're  trying to "lure"  Indians back though, so that's that sorted.

It will only be sorted when the indians are back and businesses are making money.

What is the matter in Thailand... Who is charge??? Who makes the decisions?? First Pm says October 1st opening of Thailand, Than CCSA declares opening on 15th October and no quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers, Than Anutin, who knows nothing about anything and tell to ask others.. and now the Governor of Bangkok with another story....

I'd say, business as usual.

“The governor expects the 70% full vaccination target to be hit by October 22nd, but the campaign may be sped up if more doses of vaccines are allocated to the city.”

Wow a week later. How to get all excited over a headline.

Outbreak of another Covid-wave could cost a lot more than might be gained from a about a month too early opening for quaratIne-free tourism. Probably not a lot of tourists are queuing up at the moment in front of the closed city gates, so gains might be way smaller than the risk...????

The problem is that this dilemma has been going on for many many months already. I'm all for waiting another month if MRNA vaccines truly arrive in October and they vaccinate in mass like they never did before. But business owners depending on tourism may not be able to survive that long and there is no guarantee that the situation will have evolved by November. A complex situation, which the government has mishandled from beginning to end.

And there you have the problem, headless chickens, millionaire ministers running around sprouting whatever they want as there's no one central voice, pathetic and confusing for everyone. If Prayut said he was the Czar and head of CCSA then why is he not the only one making announcements in the daily briefings so at least we/the Thai people can hold him accountable rather than his mismanaged and disjointed team of Ministers.

And its probably because of all these Headless Chickens, in part, that the Country is being placed on Red Lists / Quarantine for returnees Etc.

Other Governments are really not  sure at all about the situation within the Country , so are playing the Safety game.

And rightly so, they have to protect their own Citizens and Countries first.

Words fail me.

Anutin denies everything. This guy says we will not open on 15th, Tourism Ministry says we will. Does anyone in Government know what the <deleted> is happening?

This just compounds the ridiculous situation over expat vaccinations, as well. Registered early August. <deleted> all heard except thanks for the info....

Well, words didn't fail me after all.. Must have been someone else who said that...

Do you think flocks of tourists will invade Bangkok, if the open October 1st..?

It's just another proof that local authorities have too many powers.

How the governor of Bangkok (or any province) is qualified ? He has no team of scientists with him.

Governor is a political position : they take no risk, want  to look good from Bangkok, the capital.

Throw inside the equation... the virus... Then it's a recipe for disaster.

There will always be a case, or 2, a few deaths and therefore a strong motivation to... take no responsability... and no decision at all.

Closing the country was a national decision. To reopen the country must be the same.

Governors, local authorities, who know nothing about the situation, and the stakes, should be sidelined.

It's a emergency.

Wouldnt want vaccinated tourists infected by the locals.  He hasn’t figured out that the arrivals are NOT the problem
