Congratulations, Mr Supharothatrangsi, on highlighting perhaps the biggest issue of Thai officialdom; UNNECESSARY RED TAPE!!!! It’s not incompetence and I’m not Thai bashing, I don’t even think it’s the goons’ plan in their effort to change the status quo’; it is some douchebag saying this is how it has to be and don’t question me, or too many cooks putting in to justify their job. Either way, Thailand loses huge amounts of money while it dithers. Children.

Smart guy this Thanet!

Yes, well, not really. He certainly is a cut above the others, I agree with that. ????

One only needs to have average intellect to shine amongst a herd if drongos.

But it is encouraging.

Cheers ...

Yeah, the guy's right, they're so short of tourists that even the bigwig politicians are having to pretend they're loving it on the beach, lol.

Being an expat with a family and a home here is the only reason I returned and I would take them out of here if I could but that's another story

With the UK looking like mandating boosters and 100% fully vaccinated Gibraltar cancelling Christmas due to rising cases....... I'd say Thailand's porky pies will get even more amusing in the coming months.

Because you are considered a tourist and a reputable tourist does not own a house in Thailand and must go to a hotel. If you own a home you are against the law and could go to jail and finish your vacation.

Why did you choose Thailand ? No replay I know ????

Thailand hasn't shot it's self in the foot, it's shot it's self in both feet.

But aren’t they all so good at that here !
Spin lies and disregard consequences

With those paperwork Thailand pass and have to deal and stress with so many things

Don't really making tourists running to Thailand...

Obviously self interest on his mind. Soft pressure on the government to lift alcohol restriction for his fellow bars and clubs businessmen.

And what's wrong with that? How would you feel if your business had been shut down for a year and a half?

Or maybe you don't have to bother with trivia like earning a living.

In 2019 there was something like 39 million "arrivals" and, before covid, they expected to hit 40 mil the next year. That equals a little over 106,000 arrivals - per day.

50,000 arrivals in 2 weeks equals a little under 3,600 per day. (I wonder if they still face the same line-ups at the Immigration queues despite being over 100,000 fewer people arriving each day ?)

I have friends who cancelled their trips because of issues with the "eVisa" system. I have friends who've tried, three times (so far) and haven't been able to get the "Thailand Pass" thing to work.

I'm sure that there are 10s of thousands of others with the same issues (but the authorities won't record or report those numbers of course). And hundreds of thousands who just can't be bothered to do it in the first place.

Especially when they are told about the alcohol restrictions (or bans).

Funny how adamant they are about not letting Pattaya businesses sell alcohol. Like they think that any businesses that haven't shut (for good) might close (for good) if they have to wait another 2 months before being (possibly) allowed to sell booze again.

If they really think that they will be able to kill Pattaya's entertainment business by continuing a moronic alcohol ban, they are going to be in for a surprise.

A lot of locals are not too happy with the gov't at the moment. More so than were already PO'd before this. They're going to have a hard time winning another rigged election I think.

Hope the local populous reads this, maybe they'll see the bigger picture......

Something strange in all this.
There are no tourists and the hotels are empty due to the Pandemic.
But if you try to find a hotel in Pattaya or Jomtien via Booking.com or Pagoda.com, everything is FULL!!!!

Poor guy.   Must be difficult to be the only intelligent person in the room when surrounded by so many clowns.  He must have an extremely sore head from constantly banging it against the wall at every single announcement that falls down from the propaganda tree.

This statement seems to perfectly sum up the intelligence of the covid measures here that are supported by so many:

Quote

"People can't have a drink and can't even get up out of their seats to dance to the music," he said pointing out that such restrictions only applied inside the restricted area.

Outside this people were buying alcohol and enjoying the sounds.

I would actually find the sheer stupidity of this highly amusing if it wasn't destroying so many lives that rely on selling alcohol as part of their business model.

it was time for the authorities to get real, stop making the big claims

To get real ? The politicians or authorities in Thailand have the same problem many foreign politicians have ... they are completely decoupled from reality .

He also attacked the decision not to reopen nightclubs, pubs and bars and the issue of not allowing alcohol to be served or having drinking restricted.

Thailand's politicians want it to become a ' clean ' country .

No alcohol , only sightseeing for twice the price , a little beach , but certainly no sex with thai ladies ... a good tourist , same they want , should bed in bed by 10 pm , alone .

I can see a serious defamation case coming his way..........telling the truth is no defence (here).

Based on the sharp increase in Youtube videos of thailand, I'd say Vloggers are the largest group.

The only arrivals are not true tourists at all. Just business people, property owners or those with families.

Lets hope they dont witch-hunt him for being brutally honest..

Expect our mighty leader featuring in another commercial to refute this claim

They closed shop more than a year back?

Finally someone speaking the truth. I have lots of friends in England ,who would have come for a genuine holiday but  were put off by the all the hassles of the pass system and have planned to go elsewhere for Christmas and the New Year. There are too many clueless people making up different rules and regulations week after week.

....and many on here, including me, think the above scenario is exactly what Prayut wants.........no tourists, or at least  not the ones that enjoy nights out, drinking, clubbing etc.

Early grey and cucumber sandwiches might be all that is on offer eventually.
