A well know buffet owner got a flood of responses after advertising on Facebook for a dishwasher for 90,000 baht a month.

The large salary offered attracted many Thais who wanted further details - many were a tad skeptical.

A dishwasher in Thailand could reasonably expect to earn 10,000 to 15,000 a month at best.

Daily News went to Asia Buffet in Krathum Baen, Samut Sakhon south west of the Thai capital Bangkok to investigate.

They spoke to the two owners Anuwat and Phairot who said it was true - "that was all they could offer".

People had been asking why it was so much and how they could afford it.

Anuwat said that the restaurant had employed 7/8 dishwashers costing 90,000 baht but they were forever quitting on payday or letting him down and only three were left.

These had been there for ages and were old.

The 90K advert was for someone to contract for the whole lot of the dishwashers required, he explained.

It would be up to the contractor how many they employed for that figure.

Health insurance plans that meet the long stay visa requirements

So long as the job gets done to the required health standards, IMHO, that is quite a reasonable business strategy.

Why would you say "dishwasher wanted" if you are looking for a contractor to supply and manage dishwashing staff?  Surely they would only get dishwashers applying?  Is this just an effort to get some free publicity?

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. Publicity and attention which hopefully leads to the dishwashers they need. Somebody with connections to cheap migrant labor which the restaurant might not have or want to associate themselves with.

Sounds like a job that needs 8-10 dishwashers...:whistling:

You have to account for days off, holidays, sick days, churn etc.

What if one is on holiday and one quits, then one gets covid and can't come into work? Does this guy now need to spend more of his 90k a month to hire daily contractors to fit the gaps?

The skillset here is not for a dishwasher and I'm not sure there is enough skin in the game vs risk here for any budding manager.

Looks to be more of a publicity stunt.

Otherwise knows as contractor 26K, 8 workers 8k each.

wonder how many TVF retirees, tourists and volunteers considered applying by only looking at the headline click bait ????

Ha ha ha... a bowl of cold stinky water and one sponge [shared]

health standards forget it.

I reckon I could buy 6 fully automatic Samsung dishwashers and install them and make a nice profit at 90,000 per month. Happy Days are here again Yippee

If the buffet owner was on the ball he would be buying automation not pain in the ass labour

Better he buys dishwashers with the money

So it's not 90,000 baht per dishwasher but 90,000 baht shared between 9 workers? lol

What a dose of negativity you provide on every single thread, without fail.  Thank you.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the article and the headline.

No coralation.

I think you are giving the guy who placed the ad too much credit.

he just wasnt saa-mart enough to place an ad that described what he was really looking for.

i.e. he is saa-toopid, not clever

I am actually, thanks.  I am upbeat, happy, fun,

I do not complain constantly about my host, do not make snide negative comments about everything they serve me, do not insult their intelligence or look down on them.

Would you rather party with a positive person or one who is full of negativity?

That’s all well and good. Nobody likes a negative Nancy, but I’ve always found @hotchilli and his brand of humor to be refreshing and right up my alley within the more stuffy confines of British stiff-shirtness typically found here (I don’t mean to include those like @BritManToo in that group, because he rocks, IMO).

It’s just that your response smacked of zero sense of humor.  I apologize if that’s not how you intended to come across.

What's the preservation of coral reefs got to do with this?

Not going to work for several reasons: 8 manual dishwashers are quicker than your 6 machines, you need people to feed the machines, unload them and store the washed items.
