Bangkok – The majority of Thai people never watch pornography and do not want legal pornography as it would affect children and youth, according to a poll by the National Institute for Development Administration (NIDA).

 

Thailand’s polling center “NIDA Poll” today, November 28th, revealed its public survey under the topic “legal porn, would you like it or not?” that was reportedly done between November 22nd – the 24th among 1,315 people aged over 18-years-old nationwide.

 

The survey, when asked about public viewing of pornographic material, found that 54.14% of Thai people surveyed claimed they did not watch pornographic material ever, while 45.78% said they had seen it at least once and 0.08% said they didn’t know/didn’t reply/not interested.

 

When asked about the public opinion towards the proposal of legalization of pornography in Thailand, it was found that:

 

62.89% said they totally disagreed as the proposal could lead to negative consequences on children and youth, making them become too obsessed with sexual topics. Thailand is a Buddhist country, therefore, such an idea is against Thai morality and could lead to more sexual crime and more sexual harassment, according to those who took the survey and NIDA.

I am not Thai and I do not watch porn but the "majority" of my Thai circle do watch porn and would love to see it legalised  

 

This being said, I do not see how a husband, wife, son, father or mother would answer positively to these questions especially if they are not alone when polled 555

 

My personal poll shows an overwhelming 95% in favour 5% not against...the rest strongly opposing

I have never watched pornographic material. Dirty movies, well....

They are not waiting for the legalisation to access these sites. They have been exposed for years and that will not considering the technologies at hand

Probably the women wanted it but the men feared willy intimidation and voted no.

Don't need porn when the real thing is available everywhere.

IMO porn is for sexually frustrated males in western countries.

The porn police will watch you anyway and block you if want to visit

They never watch because their to busy filming themselves on twitter. 

Most of them do watch it and pornography is not nearly as destructive as politics.

There is prostitution in Pattaya, no drugs in Thailand and the majority of Thai people don't like porn... and a majority is happy with this Government... Yeah maybe they should ask the right questions or do better survey .....

When they banned it last year my fb feed was 90% lower mattayam girls protesting against it

This poll can be safely filed next to the one that concludes nobody ever in the history of the world masturbates.

If you want a laugh, download an app called Bigo Live.  It's loaded with Thai chicks (and from all over the world, but the Thais and Vietnamese are the most daring)  prancing around in their underwear trying to overtly reveal their nipples while trying hard not to look as though they are overtly trying to reveal their nipples. If they get too risque they get banned temporarily.

 

I'm waiting for one of them to be called out on social media because ironically a good number of them have framed (in gold, obviously) pictures of royalty looking down in the background.

 

Some make some good money out of it.

Considering that 10 years ago, kissing was not allowed on Thai TV, so the question should

be to the Thai people on the survey, First, do you know what pornography is?

  That should have been the first question on the survey...

If Thai people are such devout Buddhists and opposed to the seamier side of life, who are all the customers of the short time hotels, karaoke bars, soapy massage parlours, go go bars etc etc? There are many more of these than can be supported by tourists or foreigner business and they can be found in every town in Thailand, not just tourist areas.

One of the most important functions of Government is to Protect the Rights of the minority, especially from the mojority.

I haven't seen many Go-Go Bars in Nakhon Nowhere.... You will find Thais using Karaoke, massage parlours..., short time hotels. The GGBs I suggest are foreign tourist areas.
