The Desperate Hour. Actually 1 hour 24 minutes of Naomi Watts jogging and talking on her phone. Give it a miss.

The IMDB rating of 4.7 was enough to put me off.

Thought it was quite good, as good or better than many of the 100+ million budget movies of late, with 5+ million salaried actors in them.  The bar isn't very high with them any more.

More holes in the plot than a colander. Did a lot of fast forwarding.

The casting is absurd. One can only wonder if it was as embarrassing to work on this production as it is to watch it. One newspaper labelled it 'Bomby McBombface.' I think Wokey Mc.Wokeface might be more appropriate...Watch this series and draw your own conclusions as to whether ideologicaly driven casting imbues a production with realism or patronising absurdity.

On a similar note, The 4400 remake.

Remade with an almost entire cast of non white 'returnees', and white/evil/neo nazi police/guards, but despite there being 4400 of them, they only had the budget to employ around 20 actors. The original wasn't great, but what a steaming pile of poop the remake is ...........

Watched “The Wimbledon Kidnapping” Sky PPV 1h.32 min, Doco…got from TG   I guess just about everyone in Oz or UK know this story—but, anyway, try not to give  spoilers in case. This was the first Kidnapping Case that Britain had ever seen--Late 1969 Rupert Murdoch, media mogul had just arrived from Oz a few years before and had made a big splash with his Newspapers, & was in the process of buying the largest selling Newspaper “News Of the world” He decided to take a quick trip with his wife back to Oz and left his 2nd in charge Bill McKay , also gave him & wife, his chauffeur driven RR to go around in. The Kidnappers wanting Mrs. Murdoch followed the rolls and snatched the wrong Lady, Muriel McKay. Not believing her when she said she wasn’t—they demanded £1 million.  A mad sum in the 60s equating to about £25 million now. Once again if the program shows anything it’s the complete ineptitude and stupidity of the British Police. -The Husband done this--- Murdoch done this for publicity for his new paper--- We think the IRA must have done this---Its just not a British crime,  of course the kidnappers clock is just ticking away.

There was an update to that affair last month----which is a spoilers if you want to watch the program---but if not or already have

City of Angels/City of Death (2021)

6 episodes.

fmovies.

Watched a lot of these crime doco's but never one quite this harrowing. How anyone could want to de fund the cops after watching this I don't know. So many serial killers all at the same time was pretty weird. Well worth a watch.

Murder in the Valleys ( 2022 )

Back in 1999 a house fire in Clydach, South Wales took the lives of 3 generations of the same family . Police investigation lead to a murder trial , commonly referred to as the Clydach Murders, but this left the small community divided. More than 20 years later the police decided to review evidence over a 12 months period.

Thanks Andrew---Wow 10 GB....I can feel another rant about sizes coming on....................:w00t:

Defund the police? Give it a break! With respect, why it is necessary to go off topic with what some may consider a conservative conspiracy theory. Isn't there enough political rhetoric and division elsewhere for you without bringing it here?

Who else has lost interest in Billions? I think Axel leaving the show spelt the death knell for the series. Could no longer hold my interest.

The M Prince character, all smiling and slightly condescending, can go into a rage if things go bad enough (it happened last season).  That's what I'm watching for (and Maggie Siff).  Otherwise all the characters are familiar, not much new in there.  I think they're running out of steam.  That episode with all the prices listed was an interesting feature.

It was all downhill after Season 2. Stopped watching after Season 4.

I like so many of the characters.

I just realized Condola Rashad who plays Kate Sacker, is Phylicia and Ahmad Rashad's daughter. (And her father's character is played the Harold Cooper actor, Harry Lennix on Blacklist.)

I like Chuck's new number 2 played by Sakina Jaffrey.

Burn Rate, with the payoff at the end.

Loved Coach Calipari's speaker's fee-kaching, although his acting leaves a lot to be desired - as do many of the real-life 'actors' playing themselves.

I too stopped after season 4, then binged season five and got hooked, again.

I feel like the Mike Prince character is inspired by Mark Cuban? Said to be a friend of the show, and has appeared on it a few times.

Sakina Jaffrey

... who is Sayeed Jaffrey's daughter (maybe to Westerners best know as Billyfish in "Man Who Would be King").  Oh yeah, and her mother writes cookbooks.

I appreciate the way the virtue signalling in the Prince office is overdone.

A few weeks ago they announced Mrs. Maisel will have one more season, and it will be the last.  I wonder how far (in time) it's going to go.  I think it'll end with her working for television, and becoming a Joan Rivers sort of comedienne.  I would guess the writers would be glad to not have to deal with a Lenny Bruce death scene.

Just finished watching Nightmare Alley. Definitely a bit different, but watchable, close to 7/10 in my books. It's a few months old now.

I would have expected there to have been a huge uproar about it in this thread though, as it doesn't tick any of the boxes. No mixed race couples, no lesbians, no gays, etc. By the criteria used by many here, it must be the best movie ever.

Enjoy.

No diversity or inclusion, no alphabet people, thanks for mentioning it, i'll give it a go.

The Last Kindom. A rip roaring tail of pre mediaeval England as it forms into a kingdom under one flag. An excellent 4 part part drama series with plenty of fighting and plotting. Mercifully free  of woke ideological casting it manages to maintain a degree of genuine historical  relevance being based on The Anglo Saxon Excellent history and big battle scenes.

Just watched Three Months and unfortunately was left mostly unmoved.

Not bad. Just not compelling either  There was one scene though of intolerance of the religious to their own family that moved me

Its a story of teen angst of the gay variety set in South Florida.

Unlike most gay appeal movies explicit sex and nudity weren't therem

Characters included

Gay Jewish teen boy played by musician star Troye Sivan

East Asian teen lesbian girl who had an affair with a curiously white woman her boss

South Asian Indian closeted gay teen boy love interest

Jewish granny and her black man boyfriend

Gay Latino doctor at the STD clinic

Now you know.

On Friday, I finally got round to watching Ray Donovan The Movie. It was OK, but as others have already stated, not a patch on the series. Worth a look IMHO, if you're a Ray Donovan fan.

Murder in Italy: Unknown Male Number 1.

Saw this one on SBS on Demand.

Was really good.

Not sure if it's around the torrent sites.

Summary: How far would you go in pursuit of justice? The tragic murder of 13-year old Yara Gambiarasio near her home in northern Italy in 2010 sparked the most high-profile and shocking murder investigation in recent Italian history. This documentary follows the tenacious and emotionally-invested lead prosecutor in her case as she seeks justice.

The root, to my way of thinking, is the failure of people to question the beliefs that they hold.  They accept them as truth and fact rather than for what they are . . . simply beliefs . . . and never, ever question their validity or their standing as rockbed reality again.

Very good point. Believe this myself.
